Default WTB: CDL lock for '00 Disco

NOT a DI unit, I bought one of those already from someone on these forums, and it wasn't even CLOSE, after drilling and cutting and all tolds of nonsense to get under there to find out the hi/lo connection is way over east bumblef\/ck to the passenger side.

Just want the one that replaces the shifter piece, and has the bracket adapter to go right onto the locker.

Dude take a deep breath and look at it again. It can be done, I did it on my 01 and all worked well. Was it super easy....no, and it took me 6 hrs. but just hang in there. D1 kits are nice because there are no cables to go bad. Send a pic if you have one just to make sure you have the right setup to install. If I cant some one will help you out. plus use big thick weather strip to prevent water intrusion, after your cuts may leave gaps. PM your number if you want.

I agree, 100's of people have installed the D1 shift linkage in a D2.
The only other option is an 04 cable system for $300 plus or an electric solenoid set up for $450.

What would have made the installation a breeze is if you had bought the high low cover from the DI as well. The arm that extends out from your high low cover to the DI linkage is shaped differently than the one on your truck. Your arm faces straight up where as the arm from the DI cover is canted over towards the linkage. That's why you have a gap.

If you want the easiest, cheapest solution to your fitment issues, buy the high low cover off a DI and everything will fit just fine. Alternatively, if you do a little searching on Google you will come up with other solutions DII owners have come up with to solve this problem. It's not that hard, you just need to be a little creative.

The hi/low comming of the shifter I bought is only a few inchs off of the whole piece... where the cable traces back now is all the way down and to the right among a ton of other things, I couldnt even get 2 fingers on it, let alone get tools to it.

You're going to have to post pictures. I don't understand what the problem is or what cable you're talking about.

i didnt take any pictures after the cut up, i put it all back together already.

anywho, i dont want it.

who sells the electronic one you mention, is it water proof? id be worried about a electric motor sitting down there, no? british atlantic wants $600 for the cable one that mounts as a stock replacement so $450 would be more then fine.

The part you have circles is exactly what I was talking about. Take a look at my picture of a DI hi/lo cover and compare it to yours. The clevis end of the hi/lo portion of the shifter is not lining up with the arm extending out from the hi/lo cover on the transfer case. That's because the arm on the DII extends straight up to meet the DII linkage whereas on the DI the arm is canted towards the linkage.

The clevis is secured to the arm by way of a pin and clip with nylon bushings as guides for the pin. All of these small parts are available from Rovers North should you need them.

The problem you are confronting is that there is a space of roughly 1/2" to 3/4" between the clevis end of the linkage and the arm extending from your DII cover.

Take a look as this link:

You can get one from Lucky8 if you really don't want to bother with fitting the linkage you have. It's only another $530 including shipping.

Lucky8 Llc. - Take the road less traveled...

It will work great but so would the linkage you have in your possession now. Let me know if you want to sell it because I could use a DI linkage.
Cheers,
Paul
