Default AC Compressor

hey guys I need some help. I purchased an a/c compressor online with warranty and just had it installed. The mechanic said that they charged the system and had to manually engage the compressor to charge it. Its about 28 degrees where I live and when I got into my car and turned the temp down to LO on both sides, the air is cold, BUT the clutch on the compressor does not engage! I am lost! The climate display shows the little snow flake but I cannot remember if the clutch was engaging before I took it in. I know that in the summer the air is very cold.... HELP PLEASE!!

thanks

The A/C won't engage if the air outside is very cold. You might be able to engage it using the defroster or putting it on recirculate.

Try doing the defroster like Scott said, it will engage the compressor to try to dry the air. Now if there was an issue with the collant in the system it will cycle more than it should so pay attention to that.
