so i've done some searching on this issue on various fourms including this one and just looking for a more direct opinion from some of you guys that are familiar with the P38.
a good chunk of my windshield isn't heating up, almost the entire driver's side. i've read with other owners to check the fuses since there are two, but i dont think thats my issue, simply because all the way on the edge on the drivers side, 3 heating elements work, plus several in the middle. pretty much the entire passenger side works great.
are the heating elements repairable without replacing the whole windshield? my glass is in excellent shape with no nicks, cracks or pitting what so ever, its crystal clear. the method in which they are not working almost seems like it could be a connection problem at the base of the glass.
here's a photo of what i'm dealing with:

The cables that power the Heated Front Screen (HFS) are just two conductors each, one left, one right; so I don't see how they could help your "stripes". Obviously you could have a fuse, relay, or connector issue with the side that is 100% out.
The only way to fix it is a new windshield. Mine looked exactly like your and then I hit a turkey at 90 mph and got a new windshield. After I had it replaced it worked perfectly. If you have a few elements working on the drivers side it is not a fuse, relay or connector.
P.S. My insurance covered 100% of the new windshield so maybe you can find a turkey to hit too???

Actually it was on the left side. But its irrelevant now, went off roading tody and lost the windshield on a gravel road today. Thank you windshield insurance.
