That’s where I did my $1500 service and where they quoted me the outrageous amount for the steps and mud flaps. They’re nice, the facilities are new and have great customer service but they’re pricey.

deployable steps?

Mine cost right at $4,500 IIRC and they are amazing, so glad I did it.

Each mud flap was like $200, so now we’re at $5,300 roughly. These prices were in 2020 before inflation hit. LR dealer parts have always been expensive.

That’s why this board exists : )

Ha! Nope. They wanted $2500 just for the regular side steps, $2000 to paint and install them, and another $3800 for parts and labor to install the mud flaps and roof rails. Like I said, hard pass.

I did join texasrovers dot org and they give 10% off parts and service across a few JLR dealers in the state so I’ll try that next time I need something.

Sewell quoted me $2500 just for parts on the side steps and $2000 for the modern mud flaps and roof rails parts. I ended up buying the steps and mud flaps from a JLR dealer in South Texas for $1800 shipped. Then I sent them to an independent body shop where I paid $1200 for installation so total was $4000.

@NativeTexan and @is21447 - did you two have the same service done at Sewell? One was quoted $1,500 and the other paid $400. I want to ensure I pay the later, not the former!! Was there a difference re: what was actually performed? I'd appreciate some details to help me navigate the correct way.

For all the fellow shade tree mechanics out there: I do a LOT of my own service and have changed the oil 2x already. I'm just thinking of checking the "serviced at Dealer" box. Yeah, I get the collect receipts route. Just weighing options. I've already joined the "I took a drill to my aluminum Defender" group so that should qualify me for an Off-Road Hooligan & Self-Warranty membership.

Here you go. The total was actually $1770.84 but like I said, I didn’t do an oil change on Y1, waited until the 21,000 mile service as the service rep mentioned and I added the wheel alignment because I saw a sagging rear.

Here is my 2yr 21k mile service performed in April 2022…no clue why the other post had so many other things…

and I was beating myself up for not topping off the brake fluid and doing the two filters myself…
