Default *Before buying aftermarket wheels*

Just wanted to throw this out there since I'm in the business and have talked to a couple wheel manufacturers about this, and did some measurements for one. On the 110 P400 I have there is a large anti-vibration thingadoohickey that sticks out from spindle toward the barrel of the rim. I did a few test fits and this MotoMetal MO970 in 20x9 +18m did not clear this piece. I'm guessing quite a few 20s and especially ones with a higher offset are going to rub on this also. Just wanted everyone to be aware. The RedBourne Morland and Alston wheels do clear with a little room. I do believe it is removable?? But not positive since I didn't really mess with it. I'd like to keep it if LR thinks it needs to be there. Here are some pics. If getting wheels you may bring it up with the company your buying from and make sure they have tested/measured for clearance.
Adam.

1/2 inch or so clearance

Would getting the correct offset eliminate the concern? I believe the offset on the rims are 45

from the pictures it doesn't have to do too much with offset. Its more about the inner barrel clearance. But ideally you would want a 20-25 offset

Hi Guys,

Thanks for posting the information on what every this harmonic dampener thing is.

So my question is: does anyone know how to reach Redbourne so we can find out if any of the other wheels they make will fit the new Defender?

As a side note, I'm going to go see if I can find out exactly what that appendage does on the front of the control arm.

Hi Guys,

I did confirm that the part is used to curb a certain amount of vibration transmitted to the rest of the car from the front suspension. No word on what it means in real life if we take it off.

Trying to find a way to reach Redbourne Wheels that are made by TSW wheels. I have had TSW wheels before, but not on any of my Land Rovers. Most of the Redbourne wheels they offer are the correct bolt patter and hub centric to the Land Rovers. So short of me ordering a tester, I want to see if they have test fit any other wheels on the Defender.

Tuff Ant is making 18" for the P400. You have to do a caliper switch in the back but the front works fine.

Its official, Lucky 8 offroad was able to put 18" rims with 35 on the New Defender 2020. They will be updating how they accomplished it besides the caliper swap. It looks like they had to tweak some of the body paneling to make it happen.
