130 Trophy or Trek
Been a long journey. I started out looking for a 110, either new or barely used. Eventually I decided I didn’t like the smaller cargo area, coming from my LR4. The 130 always seemed a little disproportionate and ridiculously long to me but I’d prefer more function than worrying about form. As an aside, as long as it looks, did you know it’s only 2 inches longer than a Ford Explorer?!
Anyway, now I’ve come across the Trophy and Trek editions. I don’t need a third row, so they are pretty perfect for me. Is there any reason to choose one over the other? Trek seems to have a few more crazy extras, and looks a little more end of days-ish, but might be a little over the top as a daily driver.
Also, are there any major differences between 2023s and 2025s in terms of working out electical gremlins or anything else? Honestly, I could use help choosing, lol.

As far as Trophy or Trek editions, it is really up to what look you prefer. You can also always go with the regular plain 130; difference wise between the 2023 and 2025, nothing really that jumps out at you except for the screen size inside the car. The larger screens became standard in 2025 whereas I think they were optional on the 2023. All Defenders have been pretty solid and gremlins free for the majority of us.
Hi, they both have the larger screen. I guess the main reason is it’s easier than hunting down with all the extras, most notably the locking rear. Plus I am hoping they’d have better resale when the time comes. Which they probably won’t because the ones I am looking at have already lost $30000+ lol
Really the only differences between the 2023 and 2025 is the center console design, which was changed for 2025.
Also, the 130 Outbound might be worth considering, as they don't have the third row, but they also don't have the rear quarter panel glass, making visibility worse.
Locking rear diff honestly isn't necessary on the Defender. I have it, and it offers maybe a 5-10% improvement over the standard diff at the very most. A Defender with an open diff can go anywhere a locked diff can, just with a tiny bit more wheelspin. The traction control and brake by wire allows for so much more control compared to previous LRs. It is significantly better than my old 2011 LR4 and noticeably better than my old 2017 D5.

Hahaha- I picked up a 2024 130 Outbound(Carpathian grey) from Hinsdale LR. Was looking at it since April and ended up picking it up in July after several price drops. I’ve had it for two months now and absolutely love it. It had more than I wanted on it: expedition roof rack, side gear box and a clean air intake, but it looks amazing and is a head turner. It replaces my 22 110 X-Dynamic in Eiger grey.
