I know the P300 and P400 can have the same off-road capabilities but can they both climb a steep hill? I would think that's where you will need the extra horses.

Given the gearing available in both versions, I cannot conceive of any offroad situation, hill or otherwise, where the P400 would succeed and the P300 wouldn’t, based on their respective torques. Traction will be lost way, way, way before you reach the P300’s torque limit.
