2020 Defender “TOW BAR NOT LOCKED” warning

That's frustrating. From your comment, I'm not sure what you mean. You mean "new to you, used 2020" or is the year wrong? If it's a 2020, then a couple years have passed and if used, my first Q to you would be has anyone done anything to the towing wiring harness? You may not be aware, but various 3rd parties make couplings that can jack into the trailer wiring to source power and signals. If one's in there, I'd suspect that first. Also, a lot of folks do a lot of mods under the boot. I don't think the D200 has all the MHEV "crap" in there, so I would wonder if someone's done changes to the boot for storage or to tap into a 2d battery. Yada yada. If it's a 2020 "new to you" but used, the main question - are you aware of any mods? Also, did it do that the first time you drove it or just after a while. If after a while, do you know when you got your last software update? Look and if the timing correlates, that could be your issue. If it's a "new" vehicle straight from a Dealer, you're going to have to go to them ASAP. A 2020 is coming to the end of Warranty, so that could be an expensive PITA if not.

Hi there. Thank you for the reply. It is a brand new vehicle from the showroom MY2020. It is not from an authorized JLR dealership, I got it from an indy importer since the JLR dealership does not import the D200 version. Yes the unit is MY2020 arrived here in the country in April 2021 and I purchased it last month in a brand new condition with 51miles on the odo.
No mods done at all but when I acquired it the pivi screen was flickering so the seller swapped it with a pivi unit taken from other unit on their inventory. This seller is a pretty reputable importer with few stocks on hand.
When I test drove it with the flickering pivi the warning was non existent. However, after they swapped it it began showing up. Thus, I was wondering if it is somekind of mismatch settings on the TBM module and the pivi. I’m going to have it rescanned by the JLR dealership to see if there is a wrong string on the module. It was scanned once by an indy shop and no DTC showed up.

If you have access to the local Dealer, that's the BEST route. If they puke, fight, or you are close to the left coast of USA, send @markjlr a pm. They allegedly can work magic on after manufacture tech swaps. No personal experience, but I see them on many Forums and no one has pitched a fit - so that's a testament!<g> (Clarification: no customer has "witched". JLR likely is ignoring them and some folks have more anxiety about tech hacks than physical hacks. Those peeps post cautionary notes, which you would also have to consider when weighing options.)
