2020 Defender Roof Blind Defect (under the panoramic sun roof)
#11
Tell the service advisor that the technicians must have clean hands or wear clean gloves. I had a leaking roof antenna replaced on my LR4. Was told it takes 4 technicians to safely drop the headliner since it is fabric mounted on a somewhat fragile fiberglass shell. One of them had dirty hands and left black handprints all over my "oyster" gray headliner that were hard to clean off. (Needed magic eraser)
If the Defender headliner is built the same way, you want to keep your light colored fabric clean during the repair.

There is a setting to configure the shade to auto close or not. Mine was default set to auto close, I changed the setting to manual as I thought that would wear out in short order for sure...

Just FYI, while perusing through the menu settings, I happened to find the option for the blinds auto-closing/opening. For some reason, it's under the "apps" settings section. Again, there is no mention of this in the manual for some reason... but this is super useful if you just want the blind to remain in the same position you left it.

Update on Roof Blind and more!
Following up on my previous posts, I’ve got the roof blind fixed and although the dealer kept the car for four days and said this is the first time they’d pull a new Defender headliner down, I’m very happy with the results. I tested it quite a few times at the dealer and at home and it works flawlessly. The headliner looks like it hadn’t been removed, plus no fingerprints or blemishes that I could see so it looks like they took good care of it. AgentMir, thanks for the mention of the “Auto Blind” option. I turned it off for now so it’s not opening/closing every time I get in the car.
With that said, I’m sharing the redacted paperwork with the labor, parts, costs, which were all under warranty as I’m sure there will be a need to know in case others experience this in the future. There was some other work done too. Word of advice for those getting work done under warranty: when I picked up the car, I had to sign the service papers, however they only provided copies of summarized work performed (those are the first three pix below). Instead of actual dollar amounts/costs, the line items just say “Warranty” or “W”. I had to ask them for copies of the detailed line paperwork in case I needed to reference later.
#1 (Roof Blind) The docs basically show what was needed to replace the headliner and looks like there is a clip that might not be reusable (LR091317). Parts were under $500. I was thinking closer to $2k.
#2 (Cargo Cover) The cargo cover was coming apart where it attaches to the window sill and in my humble opinion the whole thing is a piece of junk. They replaced the $300 cover for another for free, although unsure why it's listed as more than $500 on the paperwork
#3 (Charging Pad) I had them look at the wireless charging pad and asked them if there was a firmware update available since my iphone 12 wasn’t charging. They actually had to order a new/updated charging pad so I’m waiting for that to come in. I believe there’s another string on this. So for you 2020 owners out there, take note!
#4 (ABS) They found some other issue with an indicator lamp. I thought mine were working but apparently not, so they updated the abs module.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for posting that! Very interesting. The thing that SUPER surprises me is that they listed their costs. At least two people were super helpful to you so, in the immortal advice of "Click & Clack" you should bring them home made chocolate cookies next time! The thing that could cause the Service Manager or Dealer to go off the rails is that someone gave you the paperwork with actual costs. That's not common.
