Default 2021 Activity Key troubleshooting Help

Good afternoon all,

I have a 2021 Defender and recently had my local dealer install an activity key and usd with no issues for about a month - both surfing and sailing. Today, however, I returned to my vehicle and saw the attached screen. Is this common with these? Is this something that will work itself out as the key dries or telling me of a defect and waterlog issue with it? I’d appreciate any input if someone can chime in here.

thank you!

I believe it's a protective water locking mode, to prevent accidental use when the key gets wet. Like if you get a drop off water on your phone screen it'll act like your finger is touching that spot, do you could accidentally unlock your vehicle. You should be able to press the unlock symbol until the loading bar fills up, then the key will unlock.

Thank you for the reply. You are correct; it was a water protection lock and I was able to return the key back to normal mode by pressing the pictured icon 4 times in rapid succession.

cheers!

Isn't one of the features / or point of this key is that it's able to get wet / go surfing with you or whatever?

Yes, and it performed exactly how intended. I use mine all of the time when kayaking and it's great not having to store the key fob somewhere.

Got it, but then why does it "tell you" it's wet. ?

Mine had not done that previously so I can’t answer your question but I will say it’s a nice accessory to have when you’re spending multiple times a week on the beach, in the ocean, or enjoying countless other river and lake sports.
