2022 Build question
Hey there, new to the forum and the LR world. Recently ordered a 2022 Defender, just received the VIN# and it's in the "Build Market Distribution" phase of build. Next up is it's on the ship.
My question is does anyone know how long this takes and when it should be on the ship? I know you can request ship name info so you may track it's progress, I will ask that soon.
I live on the east coast, if anyone has experience from here on out would appreciate your knowledge and expertise!
Thanks!

You can check a couple other threads with “2022” in the title for more details, but basically I ordered 3/25, car was built and at the dock in Southampton (meaning shipped from Nitra) by 5/5. Sat there until last week, 35 days or so. Is now on a ship that’s docking today in Baltimore, then down the coast to Brunswick, where mine will be offloaded next week. My delivery date in Atlanta (4 hours from port) is supposed to be 7/2. Don’t know if that will be accurate or not, but it will be close.

I think it's a good idea to get the ship name and then follow it. Crossing the Atlantic isn't that long. A week? It all depends on how long it takes the Port to load the ship and then clear customs on this side. I've waited 2 weeks for items ordered at work to just clear customs. I think a good rule of thumb is 3 mos from order to delivery. I would start with that. Good luck!

I also ordered a 2022 and took delivery recently. I'm on the West Coast so my timeline is probably a bit more stretched out. Here's my timeline:
- Ordered in early March. Got a build date of 5/4/21
- By May 12, the status had changed to "Into Port of Exit or Local Compound" which means it's at the dock, ready to be loaded.
- Was loaded onto a ship before May 15th since the ship left Zeebrugge on that day.
- Reached Southampton on May 17th and docked for a few hours.
- Transited the Panama Canal on May 28th/29th.
- Reached local port (Port Hueneme) on June 7th.
- Reached dealership by truck (SF Bay Area) on June 12th.

Great feedback, thanks. I will definitely get the ship name once it's loaded. I purchased a BMW through the European delivery program a few years back, it was great to follow the car over. Living in the northeast has one perk.... it was one of the first stops - I assume the same process with LR orders.
