Default 2022 Defender Door noises

Hi everyone,
I have got small issue on my 2022 Defender 110 SE bought in April 2022. From few months is possible to hear a light noise coming from both frontal doors, a bit more from the passenger door. You don't hear when radio is on, but once the volume is low or the radio is off, the noise is really high, especially at low speed. Once in motorway for ex, no noises.
I have called the service in Italy and they reply me to fix an appointment at the service to check it.
Wondering if I'm the only one with this issue??

My dealer says that this is not the first case but looking online I haven't found any similar case.
Let me know in case and how you have solved.
Thank you
Dino

Can you describe the noise? Is it a rattle? Is it a hum? Is it a whistle? I'm tone deaf, but the different type of noise may help isolate it. Does it sound louder if the windows are down?

Possibly the well-known door seal issue?

Hello,
as reported on other LR forums, the problem seems to be due to the door seal rubbing, even my Defender 90, 2021, has this problem and I have ordered a Wurth product that is supposed to fix the friction.
I will keep you updated when I receive the product👍

I lube all of my door seals about every 6 months with a silicone lube. My wife gets pissy when I put it back with black fingerprints all over it, so I clean the bottle carefully when I am done.

Lightly dusting the door seal in the area of most frame movement - the top rear 12 inches of the glass frame - with talcum powder will fix the problem for a while. This is often what dealers do when customers complain about sticky or noisy door seals.

There is a molybdenum slip-coat film applied on the seals during manufacturing which allows the seal to slide over the paintwork during door opening and shutting to stop the seal grabbing and wearing.

Seal manufacturers often apply talc as well to help the seal settle in when it is new, but this wears off after a while, or may not be applied by them at all for cost saving or other reasons.

I talced mine three months ago and it is still effective.

Having read numerous posts on squeaking doors, windows, A-pillars and having experienced none of these issues, I like your remedy for it’s simplicity and effectiveness. Other posters have suggested various sprays, lubes, or various hi-tech solutions but in essence a light wipe/dusting of talc or other similar powder will suffice to eliminate the squeaking/rubbing sounds some drivers are noticing. I just went through a similar issue with my sliding patio doors which we’re getting a little balky. The last thing to use is any lubricant as it will only attract even more dust and grit. I just use a bar of soap, Rubbing the tracks on the bottom, and the guides on the top, then vacuuming or wiping any residue results in a perfectly smooth glide with minimal force. If I had one of these squeaking doors, I might try a tiny drop of shampoo or liquid dish soap on the rubber, then wipe it well with a micro fiber cloth, removing any excess. Sometimes the simplest solutions have the best results. That’s why I like the talcum powder suggestion.

Oh come on guys.. really?? We have a 80K car that has a crap rubbers and your solution is to spray??
Tomorrow I will go at the LR dealer center here in Italy, I will explain that issue come from rubbers, I will sign the current rubbers on bottom side with a specific sign that I can recognize.
I will ask to change them, WTF, it's a defender not a Fiat. I don't want to waste my time to spray anything.
I pretend they will change all rubbers on door.
I let you know what it happens. By the way YES I CONFIRM. The issue is caused from rubbers.

Thank you for your support. Hope for the best
Dino

My rubber seals are rubbing enough to have worn down the clear coat in the areas they rub, corners. I lube as usual and it helps a lot. But now seeing the wear, I’m wondering if LR will actually make a perm fix or something. I’m sure in another few years they’ll wear down the paint. Noise doesn’t really bug me but LR should think about a long term fix. Maybe a rubber itself is too hard or something. Anyway have a great day. I LOVE my Defender.
