Default 2023.5 110 - speaker placement for upgrade

Due to the chip shortage my S was downgraded from the 10 speaker system to the 6. I am curious for those that have the 10 where the placement is of the speakers in case I most likely decide to upgrade with 3rd party speakers.

Thank you!

If you have a look at the page below it shows the speaker details for all the factory fit sound systems

I conceded this is beyond my ability to do myself. Focal speaker upgrade in our Honda Passport was an easy DIY thanks to trim removal tools, speaker mounting rings, wire connectors and instructions from Crutchfield. Nothing like that is available for the Defender and adding speakers isn't as simple as "plug & play". I'll be paying a custom audio shop $8K for a sound system upgrade.

if done right you only really need a good 3 way set in the front and a coaxial for the rear with new amps

i have completed a full aftermarket upgrade and posted a thread. let me find it and you can get an idea what can be done

I would like to circle back around to this thread. After a few months with my standard 6 speaker system in the defender my thoughts are it is good for the driver which honestly is my focus.

Having said that I feel like there could be a little more highs and lows would be curious for hear from those that did an upgrade after they received their car. I would want to keep it as “OEM” as possible maybe even just reaching what the “S” model was supposed to have 10 Speakers vs what the shortage gave me 6. Has anyone done this or something close?

I've gotten quotes that range from $8K to $15K for an entirely new sound system. But I'm not sure I'll keep it past the 50K mile warranty and I've already put over 8,000 miles on it in 2 months. And I know I'll never get most of that money back if I sell it or trade it in. So now I'm leaning toward just replacing the speakers myself and adding some sound deadening.

sound deadening will do wonders and you can do all yourself.

if you are replacing speakers remember the stock speakers are 2ohm. you should replace with 2 ohm to have the amp generate enough power. going to 4ohm speakers will reduce power output and prob sound worse
