2023 Defender 110 Brake Controller
Has anyone added a brake controller to their 2023 Defender 110? My previous 2017 Discovery was prewired for a trailer’s electric brakes and adding a controller was a relatively simple harness plug-in DIY project, which I did and got the full use of the towing system (up to 7700-8200 lbs of capacity) although I normally towed much less than that. The prewire apparently was not included in the newer model that I purchased even though the towing capacity is still touted at 8200 lbs. What is required to control the trailer brakes? I like to know what needs to be done before a third party starts snipping wires.
I just added a break controller to my 23.5 LR 110. I installed the Redarc Elite and it was completely plug and play. Took 10min for the install and it works great. Redarc makes a wiring harness for the Defender and there is a plug above the brake pedal designed for brake controllers. There is a blank above your left knee just below the light dimmer that fits the Redarc ****.
If you go to YouTube and search Brake Controller Land Rover Defender, a good install video will pop up. Happy to share pictures when I have a chance.

Thank you for your help. I am following up with Redarc and will utilize the YouTube video. My local dealer was no help at all.
Would you mind commenting on your towing experience with the Defender. I am looking at a trailer in the 5500-6500 lb range (loaded) with a hitch weight below the design capacity of the Defender. Are the existing mirrors and back up camera views adequate or have you added mirror extensions. Thanks again.

Thank you for the information. We relocated here to New Mexico from the DC area but had been towing an Airstream to destinations west since 2017. That was with a Ram truck and a Land Rover Discovery. Looking forward to your experience with the Defender.
I've a 2022 110 with about 76,000 miles of which 27,000 have been towing a 6,600 lb, 25 foot Airstream from the east coast to the Rockies. Very happy how it pulls (and brakes) in all situations. My trailer is 8.5 feet wide and 10 feet tall so all existing mirrors are inadequate. I use mirror extensions and am quite comfortable with the setup.
