Default 2023 Defender 110 clicking noise

Hi
I bought my defender few months ago and ever since I have a clicking/ticking noise coming from the rear cargo door. The noise appears when ever I drive over a bumpy road or even braking.

took the car twice to the dealership but they were unable to identify where exactly the noise comes from.

Please share your experiences !!

Lubricate the rear latch mechanism with some lite machine oil.

clean the door seals with gummy pflege.

this solved it for me!

Unfortunately, my local dealership already applied some sort of grease on the latch but the noise still there.

I had the same issue. It sounded like plastic crinkling in the headliner behind the rear seats. I eventually solved it by spraying silicon lubricant on the exterior seal of the sunroof. The noise was coming from the interface between the sunroof and the rest of the body. I used a WD-40 silicone lubricant, but I'm sure there are other options. You don't need to open the sunroof to do this--just spray along the perimeter of the sunroof panel from the outside. Let me know if that helps!

I had a similar sounding noise and I isolated it to the rear hatch locking mechanism where it engaged with the body when closed. Dealer said the mechanism has the ability to be aligned which they did and that solved it. I sat in the back seat and had my wife drive the car so I could isolate. Good luck.

Indeed I have located the sound within that area. Just for my understanding is it the locking mechanism or the male side latch that needs adjusting ?

Good question. Leaning towards the male latch side but don’t 100% recall. Maybe you can find a diagram of the mechanisms online and see which side she’s adjustment features.

Here’s my solution. (I’ve replaced the orange tape with black electrical tape for a cleaner look).
