Not surprised, given the inflation rates we are seeing.

I wonder if this increase is tied to the rumored 2023.5 MY.

I would hope they honor the price at the time of order submitted and accepted by JLR.

I ordered a MY22 90X in August of 2021. There was an increase to the MSRP between the time I ordered and when the car was delivered (Jan, 22) and JRL honored my original MSRP. They essentially gave me a manufactures rebate on my invoice for the increased amount. For anyone with open orders, I would definitely reach out to your dealer and confirm they will honor the price that you ordered at vs the 'wait and see' approach.

The US product team has been adding (or maintaining) content in the Defender with each price increase when allowed the choice. In fact, they've been pushing to standardize the towing package along with a number of other smaller features that are less supply constrained.

We don't make changes unless forced or when competitors make a move first. The smaller player in the mainstream market cannot dictate pricing-we go with the flow or parts supply.

For the record, when Defender was launched in 2020 the original starting target price for the P300 was going to be $59,995. The US product team fought to get the price down to $49,900 which was borderline unprofitable. However, we tried to look out for the enthusiasts and regular folks.

A basic bitch pickup is $60,000 these days. I expected this.

I ordered D90 in Sep ‘22 and had to re-order again when switched to ‘23 model. The price went up $2800 although that did include “upgrades” I didn’t want due to the change in the packages. Of course two of those were the larger screen and digital dash…both of which I didn’t receive along with the sunglasses holder and metal ends on the turn signal and windshield wipers. So I’m basically left with a $2800 sunroof…that I didn’t want to begin with.
