2024 110X Wireless Charging
I’ve got a iPhone 12 Pro Max that only gets hot on the charging pad, to the point of overheating the phone. I don’t really care about getting a new phone but am willing. I am wondering if those with newer phones are still having this problem.
I abandoned wireless charging with the Defender (mine's a 2022 and iPhone 12). That amount of heat CAN'T be good for the phone!
That's all well and good, but it's far easier for me to plug in the phone to the charger wire hanging right there and stick it on the magnetic holder I have, than to remove and reinstall the cover everytime, so even if that solves the heat issue it's moot. Don't know about the OP's situation, though.
I have a 2020 110X and have used the wireless charger with a iPhone 14 Pro Max and now 15 Pro Max. Same results as you. Almost no charge, just gets super hot. I gave up long ago and simply use a USB-C cable to charge.
I'm sure you *don't* want to hear this but my iPhone 15 Pro (ie the newest one) charges just fine on my wireless pad (2020 110 X model), and doesn't get overly hot. Had mine in the charger for a full day of off-roading this past weekend and it was fine.
It does charge more slowly than hooking up to USB-C.
When I first got the Defender, the wireless charging overheated the phone and was very finicky about charging/not charging/etc. LR dealer did a software & hardware update on the charging pad (to support MagSafe which I think at the time was screwing up the works on the charging pads) in 2021 that made it all fine. I would think the new ones are the new hardware/software.

I don't use a phone cover. Phone will heat up to the point of shutdown.
Has anyone removed the OEM charge mat and replaced it with an empty tray (or one pre-wired presumably where a hardwired solution could live?)
*I have this issue - I've got a MY24 p400/110 .. after a couple of attempts (and loosing connection due to heat) I stopped using the mat.
