Default 2024 Defender – Wind Noise at window near B-Pillar

Hi all,

Has anyone here experienced wind noise specifically at the top rear corner of the driver’s window near the B-pillar on a L663 Defender?

Here’s what I’m experiencing:
  • Noticeable wind noise (like the window isn’t sealing all the way) starting around 45–50 mph and increasing with speed
  • The sound is coming from the top corner of the driver’s window near the B-pillar, not the A-pillar
  • If I apply pressure between the glass and the upper gasket at that rear corner it reduces/eliminates the noise
Dealer history:
  • Shortly after purchase, the dealer replaced the exterior window moulding. That resolved the issue for about a year.
  • The noise returned.
  • They replaced the moulding again, but this time it did not fix the problem.
Because pressing on the seal/glass helps, it really feels like a compression or fit issue at the upper rear corner of the door frame rather than exterior trim.

I’d greatly appreciate any input from members who have experienced this. My dealer is at a loss for what to do next as they say they have not seen this before.

Thanks in advance!

Take it to the dealer and have the tech ride with you to see what is going on. Your Defender is under warranty.

Thanks for your response. I have taken it to the dealer twice so far. They have been unable to fix it and are at a loss right now. They most recently said they are researching it but they also said these are “noisy” vehicles. To me that is unacceptable so I am pursuing this in several ways.

I have been able to silence the wind noise by rolling up the window with a thin piece of neoprene in the area where I hear the noise. Hopefully this will give them an idea of which gaskets are failing.

if anyone else is having this problem I’m happy to share more detail. Just pm me.

Thanks all!

Since the dealer is at a loss about fixing your issue, I would personally call Land Rover corporate and ask them to send a factory tech to your dealer so that he can document the issue. Alternatively, check your state's lemon laws just in case your issue cannot be resolved. Remain persistent with Land Rover corporate and your dealer and document all your correspondence with both. Keep us posted and good luck.

These dealers are a joke, giving a pathetic answer like that, ‘it’s a noisy vehicle’. Since when is a $70k+ vehicle supposed to be a noisy vehicle? Mine is comfortably quiet. Are their Jaguars noisy vehicles also? They seem to be incompetent and incapable. Don’t **** on my back and try to convince me it’s raining. Dig in your heels and don’t give an inch.

also, the L663 is “not a noisy vehicle” At all.

Hi all,

Thanks for your input. The dealer is still willing to work with me. Today I showed them where I’d isolated the wind noise and they noticed the gaskets looked a bit more worn at that spot. They have ordered new window gaskets and are going to take the door apart to see if the window is out of alignment and wearing the gaskets more at that location. I’ll keep updating this post in case anyone else ends up having this issue.

Thanks again!
