Default 2026 Honda Passport

Looks like Honda did a great job with the redesigned 2026 Honda Passport. I know it's nowhere near as capable as a Defender when it comes to serious off road adventures (no low gear, no low traction launch, no air suspension, etc.) But for winter road trips up skiing and summer beach driving, it should work fine. So much better looking than any Toyota/Lexus. Love the orange, so tired of all black, white or shades of gray paint colors. They kept that naturally aspirated V6 that runs forever instead of downsizing to a turbo 4. Nice exposed front tow hooks and 18" wheels. Kept actual ***** for the climate control. Plus extra cup holders in the doors that somehow JLR forgot to bring to the Defender from the LR4.

You can get a good look at it here:

Our family motor pool includes a 2019 Passport that has been great, but I'll likely trade it in for this new one. Although Chief65 is probably on the new Passport waiting list already.

it's not bad at all, I wish it had light color interior/ headliner...
exterior color selection is underwhelming too.
Probably not geared for towing, Land rover is clear winner is this department.

I was very impressed when they revealed it a few weeks ago. Good styling, great powertrain (uses a variation of the Acura SH-AWD) and it actually is pretty capable for what it is. They’ll sell a ton.

From the looks of the body style, they paid homage to the original Passport/ Izuzu Rodeo design

Totally agree. Some of the old square body designs were some of the better designs with more interior room. No reason every vehicle on the road needs to be shaped like a giant worn-down bar of soap.

Let me know how it goes Paul. I don't think you'll regret it for a moment at that price point. Looks great, good value for the money. I will no doubt be tempted to trade for the '26 but it's still going to be too early for me. The smart way for me to go is to just keep my 2022 and pay it off while it's under the extended warranty and then reap the benefits of having no payments for at least a year or maybe two. That's my long range plan but we'll see. I might give in early or maybe my finances will improve to the point where I can loosen up. I took on a new mortgage as of this month so my budget is going to be tight until this car is paid off. On the plus side the 2022 is running great and I really don't feel like I need anything other than a set of tires. They put what looked like some decent stock rubber on the 2024s, I think I'm probably going to be ditching the stock Firestones within the next month or two. I have 28k on them, they're nearly worn and I picked up a nail on Thanksgiving which needed a patch. Plus it's winter here in Western NY so fresh tires are really needed sooner rather than later. As for JLR vehicles I'll have to see what things look like in a few years, I'll give them consideration. I love the fact that I'm now living a stones throw from the dealership. Like literally if the trees weren't blocking the view on my balcony I'd have eyes on the dealership.

We're currently running winter tires on our Passport since my daughter has it at college in Maine. I grew up in WNY, so I know how fast lake effect snow can pile up. Check out either the Nokian Remedy WRG5 or Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires. Both have far better winter traction than a basic all season tire.
