Thank you for all the responses!

Being in Florida I do not see us doing really hard off roading. However, I would like a more aggressive thread and one that I could do some easy trails with.

I am going to look at the Falkens. Although it does not get cold here in FL we do get some heavy rains.

We lived in FL in the 90s and still come back each year to visit family. I think the Nittos would be fine there albeit on the noiser side. I'm still firmly in the Falken camp after having them on 5 vehicles now.

This is very helpful. I went to discount tire to discuss with them and they recommend Cooper. When it's in San Diego, it really doesn't matter but I plan to take it to ParkCity and keep it there during the winter. So the Falkens seem like a great option. And would rather not need to swap them out when I bring it back to San Diego in the summer. Just want the same tire on year round. Another benefit is a better looking tire for the 22inch. I have thought about going down to the 20 and having better options like the BFG, just not sure I want to deal with all that, still contemplating.

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned. When I was at Discount Tire, it was shocking to see the difference in tire weight. The stock 22 only weight around 35lbs each, and all the others I look at were 50lbs and more. Like the Falkens are at 49lbs. Thats 15 more per tire for the second lightest. Wonder how much that affects overall performance during the summer.

Ended up going with Continental TerrainContact A/T 285/45/22.

From what I read the tire is designed for mostly on road and the occasional off road trek.

for what it's worth I got 5 20s with tires (a few k on them ) for 1800 shipped from eBay, see my post on 22s and off-roading.
I struggled and still do with AT on the 22s vs what I am in the process of doing

I understand the struggle as I went back and forth a few times, there may come a time when I decide to switch to 20s.

I decided on the sticking with the 22s after I found this tire which from what I read has good on road manners and good wet traction. They will also be good enough for any trails I plan on tackling at this point or beach driving here in FL. I will report back after a few thousand miles.

Now if I was out west with access to mountains at my doorstep then switching to 20s would have been my choice.

I was going to stick with the 22s but I ran over a curb to a thud, made me miss the tires on my rubicon.
maybe it was just in my head but it was more jarring than I expected.
Don't think there is a wrong answer, post the pics when you get them on.
