I took delivery last week and it has happened to me one time. This was after about 200 miles of driving time. I'll try charging the battery up and see if it happens again.

Default 20 Defender HSE Same issue

12k miles over 13 months of ownership. Wife was complaining that the car would shut off at stop lights and I thought she was confusing the auto s/s with a stall, and then it happened to me! Taken it to the shop 2x now. Last trip they did a system update which worked for a few months but it’s happened again. Going back in next week for a check engine light and will have them take a look at the stalling issue.
Had a turbo leak issue as well, but that’s the cost of owning a LR.
Otherwise couldn’t be happier with the truck itself. There’s simply nothing else I would want to drive right now.

An update on this, I took my defender in to the dealer and they did a pcm software update to fix the auto start/stop stall. I’ll update if I have this issue happen again.

This is the relevant fix info:

I’ve never had this problem, but strangely I just realized today on a long drive that I can’t remember how many weeks it’s been since my auto start stop functioned. I used to get in and forget to turn it off all the time and within a few minutes at a light it would cut off. Then I’d push the button and be done with it. But I bet I haven’t done that in a month, maybe six weeks. 2022 P400 is 11 months old, 12,000 miles. It didn’t work at all for the first 3 to 4 months I had it, then began working consistently until whenever it stopped 4 to 6 weeks ago.

The new behavior after the PCM update comically bad. The weather has been nice so I’ve been driving around with the A/C off and the windows down, a prime candidate for auto start/stop to engage (no aux power draw). After the update, every time that the auto start/stop engages, the system immediately restarts the engine. It’s pretty annoying to have the engine turn off and back on again within a second. I wonder if LR did this as a stop gap while they figure out an actual fix.

Hmmm. I got excited reading your post about the fix at your dealer -- then read your next post about it totally sucking.
Grr.
I have this issue regularly on mine... it's so bad I'm surprised it's not a safety recall w/ NHTSA

I’m going to try a battery charger and see where my charge is at, that could be a part of the problem. Not stalling at a light is better than stalling, in my opinion lol. I have increasingly lower expectations when it comes to my Land Rover simply working.

It seems it will stay off only for a certain amount of time, depending on the charge of the battery. Even after hours of highway driving, it will only remain off for so long.

The iGUIDE lists all necessary conditions to make it work, and what will cause it to not work.
[iGUIDE | AUTO STOP/START | TRIGGERING AN AUTO STOP, and AN AUTO START.

If before, sometimes after a stop, turning off the climate system will cause A/S/S to engage.

I had the PCM update done to remedy this issue. I think PCM = powertrain control module. Did this today during a dealer visit -- I drove all around today / this afternoon (with AC off...) and no odd behavior that someone else posted (ie immediately restarting each time). Happy camper so far. This was, other than rattling speakers, the most annoying thing I'd found with my Defender!

The auto start/stop feature was one of the 1st things that i had programmed out. I am not a fan of this technology. I am so relieved that i dont have to press the button every time i start the car. It did not start once at a stop light before the programming as the OP mentioned. It was unnerving. I had to hit the start button and shift into d. No more issues ☺️
