First offroad vehicle and first land rover. Went in to get a used LR4 and walked out putting money down on a defender! I'm used to getting 22" rims on my past Yukon and got it for the defender. After learning about offroading (from the interweb) i wish i got smaller rims and bigger tires!
Thoughts from the forum..... lift 1.5" + 33" tires or just toss some offroad tires on them and go have fun? Stock tires are 275/45r22. Not sure 33" tires would fit without the lift? New Defender!
I did all 5. No rubbing at all. I'm glad I did all 5, was on an offroad unkept trail and had a flat. I'm glad i wasn't running with one "standard" tire.
not looking to sell. I will sell the OEM continental tires for 50% off new price. used them for like 300 miles.
I just got my 2021 defender today and hate the wheels because they are the classic all-white set of traditional rims. would do a trade if anybody wants some traditional off road wheels.

Do you still have and use the nittos on 22s? Would you mind posting a couple of pics of them in action? How do they perform off-road? Any issues with the lack of sidewall?

I took them offroad to all the major trails at big bend national park (aired down) and on ranch/farm land trail/roads every hunting season in Texas. It was fun hearing cactus scratch your car, thank goodness for my PPF film. Only thing permanent was light marks on plastic.
I just cut my fender to put on 33.5" w/ 30mm spacers. Those DO rub on metal even with 2" rod lifts. Interestingly they rub on the backside of the wheel well against the metal (i removed the liner). I'm guessing its the 30mm spacers that do it as i heard other people do it just fine. I'm sure it'll be fine if i remove the spacers but i'm lazy. Not sure i have any action pics on any of them.
Thanks.
This: " I'm guessing its the 30mm spacers that do it as i heard other people do it just fine. I'm sure it'll be fine if i remove the spacers"
Do you mean other people run 285 50 R22 without rubbing? Profile 50s would be a great option as opposed to the factory 45s.
Thanks.

curious about this too. Hoping someone has tried 285/50/22 w/o spacers and can report back!
I bought a set of 5 spoke 5098 rims in black and threw on some Goodyear Duratracs - they look good, perform well and only a small drop in mpg but not too much road noise. As somebody else suggested, save your 22's for road use.
