FWIW, I didn't have any expensive repairs on our LR4 until after 100K miles. But I probably spent $10K total on repairs & maintenance between 120K and 150K miles. These included many suspension parts (upper and lower control arms, bushings, air compressor) replaced all 4 brake calipers due to rust/seizing, valve cover oil leak that dripped into the alternator and killed it and the battery, new roof antenna due to leaking water, new parking brake due to seizing, and replacement of the plastic coolant manifold and plastic crossover pipes to avoid buying a new engine.

Overall build quality on the Defender seems better than the LR4, so I won't bother extending the warranty.

 

Yes, it's funny it worked perfectly at first but I think the released an update that made unlocking not possible until relocation. After that I can lock the doors but they will never unlock via the handle.

 

That's exactly how the folks selling the warranties want you to feel. A LR warranty will be more than that on a similarly priced Toyo - LR still has to make a profit on the policy.

 

Long time Land Cruiser owner. I’ve owned 4 different generations and loved all of them.

This is our first LR, and our 110 HSE is just fantastic. I love the vehicle and dream of long years with it. But I’ll admit I have a fear in the back of my mind that I’m still in the honeymoon phase even at 28,000 miles. I’m hoping when/if I near 100k I can say I feel the same.

They really are great cars though. My expectations have been high coming from Toyota for so long. We haven’t had any issue with our except the common passenger pillar air leak issue. I probably just screwed myself putting that out into the universe… ; )
