@ColonelBlood where do you drive your Defender? At the mall? Is it fun to drive 5mph? Is it fun to get door dings and scratches from the crowds of people? Is it fun to walk around and buy something you don't need?

Yes I like driving slowly in the forest. Yes I like driving through a creek. Yes I like camping. Yes it is fun getting up a rock wall that most vehicles could not.

 

Plenty of your luxuries at the base of mountain. But the fun and beauty is elsewhere.

 

My 23.5 90S. Loving it so far.

 

Had about 2 minutes of air time left on the thermal drone, it does regular pics as well. So coming back from from my study area in Canyon Diablo, snapped a couple of pics of the 90X before it decided enough was enough and landed.

 

Was going through some of my work yesterday and thought somebody may want to see what the Defender 90 looks like in thermal imaging. At the same place, just the IR images.

What was the ambient temp? The roof looks cool...AC on?

Why is the left rear panel hot? Exhaust, diff?

I own the 110 and the 90. We use the 110 for Costco and the 90 for everything else.. luv da 90. I hardly get stressed on ****y forest road's. 64k well spent.

 

The time was just at sunset, around 70° outside at the time, perhaps a bit cooler. The wheels heat up the wheel wells, you can see how warm the wheels get on dirt. It was stopped for around 20 minutes at that spot. Drone runs 31 minutes of air time with a reserve, so I make a few stops at the different study areas at the canyon and the last one is a spot near RR tracks where I have my reference targets set up. Makes them easy to spot and place. The Canyon Diablo is a very interesting spot with a varied history. The RR bridge over it took two tries in the 1850's and had a classic movie worthy western saga of shootings and mayhem. There are the ruins of the small settlement they built during the build there. Further up the canyon is the scene of a large Native American massacre, the Navajo's trapped around 100 Apaches in a cave in the canyon in the 19th century and burned them to death in the cave by piling wood and brush at the entrance. So the local mythology is the canyon is very haunted. Makes doing night observations there very comforting. I was looking at the decay curve on the observations overnight. I was set up to observe at sunrise. The sun just cracks it head over the horizon and every coyote in 10 miles cuts loose and howls. I about jumped out of my skin.
