The part # for the 315Mhz key that works in the US is LR147248.

In other countries (key works at 433Mhz), retrofit on 2020s may be a bit more complicated as the vehicle needs to have keyless entry from the factory, AND an upgraded Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) needs to be fitted into the vehicle to make it compatible with the activity key. The parts #s are listed in the first post here, KVM and 433Mhz key respectively.

I just purchased an activity key from a fellow Defender owner here in the US, who ordered it with his MY21 but then decided he didn't want it. I received it yesterday and will take it to my dealer soon to hopefully confirm it can be retrofitted to my 2020 with keyless entry. It comes in a box with no instructions, a longer wrist band and USB charger.

First impression about the activity key is that it feels incredibly cheap, like a $10 quartz watch from the 90s. I can see why the previous owner decided he didn't want it. As long as it works to lock and unlock the car without key I am OK with that, looks are not the point I guess. But for $250 list one would expect something a bit more substantial from Land Rover, instead of a plastic wristband that weighs an ounce and looks like a toy watch. I am amazed this thing claims to be waterproof.
Could not agree with this more. I have one, and I use it. And I actually really like it from a user perspective and its intended purpose. But damn if it isn't the cheapest looking thing....

Is the Wifi Enabled with Data Plan option needed for the activity key and locking/starting with your phone? My dealer says it isn't needed and beyond a hotspot for the kids, which I have on my phone already, it doesn't offer any benefits. I fish and kayak so will definitely use the activity key/iPhone.

Maybe this is a software glitch, but I do like being able to leave a key in the car for this reason.
I'm finalizing my order for a MY22 110 X-dynamic SE and am really hoping that I will be able to do the exact remote start and "pre-heat" or "pre-cool" by using the InControl iPhone app. I am wondering if this is an option or part of some pack? Or standard to all Defenders? Do you remember if you had to choose this or just came with yours? Thanks

I can do the same, Having read a little more on this, my understanding (and I could easily be wrong) is that you can do what we have both found you can however, the key left in the car is not disabled so if someone broke in they could start and drive the car. With the activity key it both locks AND disables the key, Anyway that's the latest I have. powerfuk hs also been looking at the activity key.

I have a 2021 defender P400 X-dynamic HSE with the activity key.
I have not used my car keys at all (in fact they are in the kitchen drawer) and just use the activity key wherever we go.

For the last 2 months since I took delivery that's how I have been doing it. Think of it as a smart watch with keyless entry

Very jealous, exactly what I have the exact same model but when I ordered I ordered at 2020 and the activity key was not available. I wish I had known. I am not sure it can be easily retro fitted, my dealer said it couldn't be but that was a Feb when I got it.

Out of interest how have you spec yours >

Here is a pic of mine, so far I have added the exposed tow hook undershield at the front (painted to match) and the classic mud flaps. Considering the ladder and rack.

For those of you with working new style activity keys… how often do you have to charge it? Could if handle a weekend — or week long —camping trip or hike?

Battery will easily last a couple of weeks.

Same for me, but I do make a point of charging it every two weeks even if it still shows half charged. I dread the day I'm away from home and the battery dies. But I love this thing more than some of the other extra tech on my D90 like the HUD or clearsight mirror.

You can always get one of these and have it charging while you're in your Defender: Link
