Activity Key Add w/out Module

Activity Key Add w/out Module
Sorry if this was covered somewhere else (I couldn't find it) but can anyone confirm they were able to easily add an activity key to an already keyless entry system? Hoping I don't need to install a new KVM and just need the key programmed by the dealer. Also wondering if you added the older key (which I prefer) or the newer one!
Anyone have any experiences doing this?

It's easily done by the Dealer. All it involves is you opening up your wallet and passing over ~$1,000. I'm crossing my fingers that you can get it done for <$500. The activity key (depending where) will cost $200-$450. Then they will extort you another $250-750 (depending on shop) to "program it". The flat-rate time estimate of the job is .2 hr. That's 12 minutes for you and me. It also includes a .2 hr of drive in/drive out. So, for that 30 minutes you get to discover the "value" of proprietary systems.
If you buy your own Activity key and then pay for the programming, you'll likely pay more for the programming (whatever "more" is from their standard rate). The part # is: LR164064. Be careful buying on-line. This is the NAS spec (315 Mhz). The ROW spec is often sold on-line and will not work in the US. Oops, I'm assuming you're in the US. If not, reverse all that....
Can you tell I'm still bitter that the SA F'd up my order and didn't include the Activity Key?<g>

I ordered my truck with the key, it was on the order but they didn’t have any in June when I got the truck, so they “owed “me one for about nine months. It came in a couple months ago, they contacted me and I went to the dealer and had it programmed. All for free of course since I had ordered the truck with it. I’ve had it for 2+ months now and used it exactly 0 times. I am very vain about my watches and that is the ugliest piece of hardware that’s ever been near my wrist. When they make one that looks like a Rolex Explorer 1016 I’ll be interested.

I purchased an Activity Key after the fact from a user on the FB groups, in new condition. Did not order it with my Defender. It had been ordered with the sellers D90, but he didn't want it. I made sure it was the North American frequency version and during my new '22 D110's PDI and initial setup at the dealer, they were able to get it paired and works perfectly. No extra hardware needed to be installed. They didn't even charge me and only took them 20 minutes. My salesman kind of just took care of it for me (we had a good working relationship... heck he even helped me install the roof-rack so I didn't have to pay them to do it!)
I'm a runner and for years have put my LR4 smart key in a ziplock and hidden it under a rock... always worried someone might see me and come grab it. So I've really enjoyed my new Activity Key. I hide my smart key in the vehicle, strap the AK to my wrist, lock the vehicle and head out with no worries! I wear my Garmin on one wrist and the AK on the other. Its light and not even noticeable. Worried about its durability, I cut a clear piece of screen protector vinyl over the screen and changed the band for an elastic/velcro sports band and its GREAT! Sure its ugly, but it serves its purpose.

^^ Yeah, I would use mine if I ever drove to a location for exercise, but I’m a cyclist and I always just ride to the place the ride starts. But, a few times a year I’ll drive to the mountains (hence my screen name) and ride up there and the AK will be much nicer than carrying the regular key in a jersey pocket.
I also SUP but never take the Defender for that. I have a 94 pickup that lives at the beach, and that I put the key under the mat and leave it unlocked with the windows down when I go paddling.

I used to take my bike to the start of our rides. I had a Jetta, diesel, station wagon. No uglier car existed on the planet. Maybe my dad's Vega. Anyway, went for a ride with my buddies that started in downtown Richmond. 3/4 of the way thru, my saddle bag was open and out fell the tire irons. I couldn't find my key! We backtracked a few miles and I was screwed. It must have flung off into the woods beside the trail and there's no way I would find it again. Rode back to the cars wondering what I would tell my wife this time when I called her. Got to the car and the key was in the door. Waiting for me to lock it. I guess no one wanted the POS. The key is what @NoGaBiker learned: Urban Camouflage.
