Here's the highest priced Defender 2 I've seen to date, and still for sale.

My son ordered a 110S P300 week and a half ago, dealer said ~ six months. At another dealership he stumbled into a new unit that the person that ordered it could not get finance approved, so my son bought it at sticker! He plans to sell it once his order comes in. Online company offered him $74K assuming 5,000 miles on the first unit, stickered at $62K, $66K out the door. Crazy times!

Ha! The Pangea rig was mine before I sold it to them. Weird times indeed, but how can you not drive a brand new Defender for 4 months, whilst being paid USD 10,000 to do so?!

Mine is on consignment with them. If anyone is serious about it, feel free to contact me directly to work it out much less than advertised.

I was one who pulled the trigger on one of the overpriced used ones. Paid $76,000 for a 2020 110s with 5,000 miles. It was a color we liked, and one of the very very few within 500 miles of St. Augustine FL. Priced it similarly equipped new and the MSRP would have been $69,000. The flip side of this was my trade gave us $12,000 more than we would have expected for our 2020 Jeep Wrangler with 25,000 miles. The way I see it, we really paid $64,000 for the Defender after our overvalued trade. Put it in the realm of financially reasonable. Perhaps better phrasing would be less financially unreasonable. But---we have our Defender now and are enjoying it immensely.

I believe this dealer is asking around $130,000 for these two. Why not!

I'm in Birmingham, and that is why I flew to St. Louis and bought Plaza LRs Trek. Paid <$100k for it. Flight was free via Delta miles, and drive back was fun. There's another in Huntsville, AL but they want about the same.

I would strongly urge shoppers not to feed into the bad retailer behavior. No one should be paying more than the original MSRP on a used vehicle (with the exception of rare and collectible low production vehicles). While JLR would love to see more folks driving our vehicles in the US we also don't want negative buying or ownership experiences.

I'd encourage people to physically set foot into these retailers and negotiate on new vehicles and consider financing. Everyone is "interested" via phone and email but few actually show up. Anyone looking at a well equipped Defender who goes in with a pleasant attitude and willingness to finance should be able to walk out with a vehicle near the MSRP plus maybe $2k in some cases. There are no incentives going from corporate to retailers anymore, so sometimes an extra $1-2K will make things right. Profit margins aren't huge on P300/P400 and limited inventory means they have to squeeze more out of each vehicle.

That said, I can't stress enough that ordering and patience is the best way forward right now. You'll receive a newer vehicle with incremental quality improvements in the exact spec you want.

Good luck!

Ok. How do I order one? I’ve had my build in to the dealer for over three months now, and still they haven’t had any allotments open up yet, so my build hasn’t even been sent to LR. And I can’t buy one from any dealer outside a set small radius of my house, per LR rules. Maybe 150 miles. That leaves very few dealers to even visit, much less buy from. And the dealer that had a few added $12,000 over the MSRP. The dealer near me hasn’t had one for months now. So it seems to me that LR is the one causing the problems that you seem to imply we should avoid. What is your solution? A real solution, not a “trust us and wait and be happy with what we give you”.

I agree, good luck.
