Advice needed: Dealer refuses to fix a warranty issue
Does anyone have any advice on how to best handle this situation?
My D110 has a terrible wind noise coming from the passenger door where the non-movable window in the back of the door is not sealed properly. I waited 3 months to get into the dealer to address the issue. I took it in a few weeks back and they looked at it and said it was due to the side box having been removed. The wind noise was present before the box was removed, so I know that's not the case. The dealer claimed that two little holes in the trim below the back window (which are taped over) are causing the wind noise. I clearly pointed out that you can move the door window easily with your hand and when I duct taped it for the past 3 months, I had 0 wind noise. To me, this is very clearly a warranty issue, but they are telling me they don't have the approval to fix it under warranty.
Does anyone have any advice on how to get JLR to address this under warranty?

If the Service Manager (not the Service Advisor) is blowing you off I’d suggest raising the issue with the dealership’s Management. It’s always helped me to escalate within the dealership first.
had an issue with a new RAM 1500 and had to engage ownership- worked.

yeah, in cases like this, i would elevate to the service manager first, then to the dealership GM. in the past, i've also had luck asking my sale's associate to advocate for me. if you live near any other dealerships, you can bring it to one (or some) and tell them you're fed up with the service department you usually use and are looking to establish a relationship with someone who'll provide better service. last resort, get a few estimates from trusted local shops, suck it up, and pay out of pocket.
The window that's loose is on the rear door, not the rear quarter panel. Right?
I would question how the side box removal might have anything do with that window - the cargo carrier is on the rear quarter panel window, and has nothing to do with the rear door, it's seals or it's windows. . So in theory removing the box could have screwed up the rear quarter panel, but you'd have to be a real hamfist to do that.
Not a valid argument on the dealer's part.

Also what dealer? Lynnwood or Bellevue are in my opinion poor from both a service perspective and a sales perspective, as compared to the other dealers I've visited over the years. (I've had several go's with them on both fronts and they seem great at taking wealthy people's money, not much else)
LR Portland, on the other hand, has been wonderful at every turn.

Are there notes in the system that another dealer would see and use as a basis to reject the warranty work? I'm tempted to just buy the window for $200 and do the work myself.
