I live on the OBX and will be out and about that weekend...

But yes, I will play around with settings and see what works. I was gonna go with Sand mode for the start! I sorta assumed that would shut off the DSC, but I'll check when I do it.

Of course over the years I've also done dumb things like come back from dinner, hop onto the beach, go along like nothing and then make the turn to cross the dune and suddenly realize that ONLY my rear wheels are digging in - turn red-face and quickly shift in the 4wd (in the Wrangler).

I'm pretty convinced at this point that my wife keeps me around mostly for comic relief.
I ran my new LR4 on the beach, before I understood the reality of the logic of Terrain response 1, and I immediately proceeded to bury all four wheels in the sand up to the off-road height setting. Yes, it was highly embarrassing with the family and locals all around. All enjoyed the show, fully.

An hour of digging later, fully aired down and DSC off and all worked beautifully. Live and learn !!

I have a little $150 tuner that uses a series of dip-switches to allow you to reprogram the computer for all sorts of changes -- 4.56 gears instead of 3.73, 37" tires instead of 31, 4:1 transfer case instead of 2.72, and adjusting the TPMS threshold or removing it altogether. So when I go to Moab for several weeks every year, I change out my 35s for 37 bias plies and remove the TPMS altogether and everything works like a champ. Is there nothing like this for Defenders? Man, I've been spoiled for years by all the aftermarket support for Jeeps!

Good to hear that the OEM wheels have good locking on the beads. I've rolled plenty of tires off at 7-10 pounds before, at rock crawling speeds. Burped a few more without rolling them off. I'll be interested to see how the OEM wheels and tires do before I replace the tires.

AEV Procal:

Nothing I know of - the low pressure warning light just stays on.

I use 15 psi as my self-imposed low limit and the beads have always held up on the LR4, Evoque and new Defender. Hard to consider 10 PSI on 18 inch, 19 inch and 20 inch wheels.

I find that Auto or even comfort mode works quite well unless negotiating some really soft stuff. I’m still experimenting with other modes in the sand...the snow/grass mode seems to work quite well on sand, but I need to for more evaluation on this.

Send me a message and maybe I’ll run up there to share in our defenders. Just love this vehicle

I’ve also been thinking about maybe organizing an outer banks defender event. Anyone else let me know if you are interested...
Yep, the revs stay high in Sand mode. Momentum maintenance all the way. It is useful in heavy snow -- when you are on the edge of the ability of the tires to force away / clear out the snow / sand ahead of it. And your lower parts are puckering --- trying not lose the float in the soft stuff.

Grass / gravel / snow is better for hard / wet sand or packed snow, I agree.

I finally got my compressor installed a few weeks ago and it’s awesome. Fast, and incredibly convenient for both airing down and pumping back up because you just set the target pressure either way and it takes care of it automatically. No faffing around with cables and plugs with a portable unit, and it looks great. Highly recommend.

Is this the Land Rover Accessory compressor?

How long does it take to air up a tire from say 20 psi to spec?

Yes, the LR oem compressor. Will have to time it for you, but it seemed more than quick enough to me.

I have forty years experience driving on the beaches of Cape Cod and the Outer Banks...I’ve been a permanent resident of both places. I’ve never had to be in 4LO except in maybe one occasion where I’ve gotten a little bogged down in sand-covered snow. Last time I rode on the beach on the OBX...comfort mode actually worked quite well. I’m still experimenting with the Terrain Response options (This is my first Land Rover).

If you think of it sometime, I'd love to get that data in case we consider one vs say an aftermarket unit.
