Actually - @GHasley - I was at the ABFM All British Field Meet in Portland last weekend (one of if not the largest British car show in US).

JLR trotted out a UX team there with a lttle tent that said JLR on it, some LR schwag and a rather random RHD L460 new Range Rover test mule there in full zebra stripe camo. Not sure why, it was just a garden variety L460. Maybe for attention. And the L460 is what got my attention.

They didn't really ask me for feedback but.. .when in Rome. I went a good 5 minutes on Camping Mode and Pivi improvements with them. I think the woman was responsible for 5 years down the road future tech... but she got it. There was also at the show, a "DEFENDER" JLR product team. JLR had flown in a product specialist who works for JLR (not the local dealer) to hype up L663 130/110/90. They had 3 there. He actually recorded an iPhone video "for his boss in Defender product" of me talking about camping mode in great detail. He thought it was a good point. Mostly because -- they were HAVING TO START AND IDLE THE VEHICLES EVERY HOUR to keep the batteries from dying. Proved my point.

click bait.
Towing is a bit of a pain, yes.
I do camping, yes battery can discharge, but I shift most of the stuff to the rear where opening rear door doesn't start Pivi.

Click Bait indeed.. I sure fell for it and he paints quite a bleak picture.. So this is true, opening the tailgate doesn't turn on the pivi and all the electronics? I noticed tonight that everything stayed dark when the tailgate was opened.

PowerfulUK has a video addressing that exact issue. Just watched it today. Should help with your questions.

Andrew is like every annoying neighbor I've ever had all wrapped into one guy. The kind that is initially interesting, sucks you in, then just bangs on endlessly until you want to move to escape his conversations... or you check to make sure he's not puttering about outside before leaving your house.

He records a rant -->
Then he records a wraparound video that includes his own rant as reference material -->
And then he provides commentary in which he disagrees and agrees with his own rant in his own video.

That guy is a flipping see you next Tuesday if ever there was one.

Tried watching a few of his videos till I realized he’s a complete bore.

Defender seems to be living rent free in his head. The guy is about as relevant as smallpox. And about as much fun.

he knows one defender owner. One. “Yeah. It’s terrible”. Bloke needs to get out more. Maybe make a video of actual non-rant content.

complete click bait. Pathetic.

Apology for the click bait. It was not my intention. I asked the moderator to delete it but for some reason it is still there.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting your post is clickbait.

the video in question is pure clickbait.

That’s the pathetic thing. Not your post.

my apologies if I inferred otherwise.

I watched the video, l would say to that guy "show me the better 4x4 you designed, and then l will listen to your ranting about other people's efforts producing one"

l can't say l've ever had the "low battery" issue he's going on about.

We've used the Defender for camping trips where it's not been started for days, and l've been in and out of the vehicle multiple times to get stuff.

The screen does come on when you open the drivers or passengers door but it doesn't stay on for long.

Most of the time though, we are opening the back door.

I know this forum is not about Toyota, but I am trying to make a point. The Toyota land cruiser, the ones fitted with the new 6 cylinder twin turbo engines. I see every other day people complaining about engine failures before they hit the 50,000 km on them. This engine shared with the Toyota Tundra. In the USA they have the Tundra, they don't have the land cruisers.

You can search for Tundra engine failure, you will get quite few.

I wounder if Andrew talked about such failures as well which are far more serious than the defender electronics issue.
