Default Any DRL failure info welcome

Greetings All,

2020 Defender 1st Gen. Both DRL's were happy day before yesterday. Now the drivers side flashes when the car powers up, then goes and stays out. NO further flashing or sign of live. This is quite common in the US as I was talking to a pal living in Ohio this morning. He and his wife have Defenders and both cars have had ALL DRL's fail one after the other within a month and half of each other. Is is a complete headlamp assembly thats needed as I find no LED bulb rerplacament listed. Thank you for any help.

It seems to be a common problem. Simon at Powerful UK has identified the issue and has a solution that may work. Mine went out last month on a 2020X P400 and was replaced under warranty.

Yes, this is a common issue, especially with the early cars. My '21 110 S had the driver's side DRL go out back in Feb. and a new headlight assembly was installed under warranty a couple days later. I'm actually surprised that it took that long for one of the originals to go out. I'll definitely purchase an extended warranty, as a new headlight is over $5k a piece.

Make sure that the extended warranty you purchase doesn't have "Lights" as an exclusion. I've seen lights excluded on several extended warranties and that's really the major component I want covered on this truck.

the extended warranty starts at 5k and goes up. I’d rather bank the money and have it invested and I know with Simon’s solution and independent shops I won’t have flushed 5k down the toilet!

I have a 2020 that had both DRL out. I had them repaired at an independent shop and they replaced the chip with an aftermarket one ($25 chip). So far so good. There are many headlight repair companies that will do the job. The job may run you around $600 a piece, much better than 5k apiece, or follow Simon’s guidance!

Thank you everyone. The job itself is not a problem, I have p[lenty of experioence stripping BMW headlights from E39 and E46. Just waiting for PowerUK to get stock in off the genuine LED modules which Iare now modified. I will also upgrade the thermal compound to aid heat transfer. LandRover are not interested in helping. I will keep those interested posted when the LEDs are available to me here in the UK. Thanks All

I have these in my lights and they work great. In case you don't feel like waiting.
