Default Anybody know why the 2023 rear wiper & washer is so much better?

The rear wiper and washer on our 2023 Defender is so much better than our 2021. They changed the way the washer fluid comes out of the rear wiper arm and it's a huge improvement. Anybody swap out their 2020/2021 rear wiper arm for the 2023 version? Guessing they are different part numbers.

I'll have to look into this more when I pull off the winter spare tires in spring.

Did the change happen for the 2022 model year as well? I've not had any issues with mine (22), but then again, I rarely even think to wash the rear window since I almost exclusively use the Clearsight mirror.

That's what I was thinking. I use Clearsight, but I leave my cargo net partition so I can hardly tell if it's dirty or not if I do switch to mirror. Other than washing it with a bucket every couple weeks when I'm washing the rest of the truck, I never clean the back glass. But I don't live in snow country either.

Yes, and I figured this out when I bought a new rear wiper blade from the dealer for my 2020, and they gave me the wrong one and I couldn't for the life of me figure it out.

-- The old style (ie 2020/2021) has a standard wiper blade and a sprayer on inner part of the wiper arm. As you point out, it's not amazing ... but it works ok.
-- The new style does not have nozzle on the wiper arm that sprays, instead it has the aqua blade (ie water goes into the blade and comes out a bunch of little holes in the rubber). The easy way to tell is the end of the actual wiper blade has the hose connection for the sprayer.

Unsure when the changeover was but I think sometime 2021.

These new type wipers are a revelation, so much better than water spraying from jets on the bonnet/hood.

Looks like the nozzle is replaced with a hose

Super interesting, I love running changes. For a reference point, my '22 D90 built in Oct '21 and delivered late Dec '21 (VIN ending in 091668) has the newer rear wiper with the hose and integrated jets in the blade.

This led me to check mine - I also have the newer blade with the hose and integrated jets on my '22 D110 built in July of '21.

Just to highjack this thread a little. My front passenger wiper doesn't work great. Only seems to spray on the lower half the windshield when using the washing fluid. Does anyone else experience this?

so is this a retrofit? meaning I can just replace the wiper blades and it should work? I have clearview too and seldom see the wiper.
