JLR were one of the first to announce they would be supporting it. They will announce when it will be supported in the near future.
However, I don't know if it will apply to vehicles that have already been built, as Aston Martin (currently the only company offering it at the time) claims that it only works on 2025MY vehicles and can be only retrofitted for the 2024 DB12. Whether that is something as simple as software or complex as hardware remains to be seen, so there is a possibility that our cars might not support it. We will find out in the near future.
Maybe this will finally make Pivi connect to my wife's iPhone faster than my Z Fold 5 every time we get in the Defender together. Even though we have her phone set as the preferred device, her brand new iPhone still can't connect faster than Android Auto

Really? Mine connects almost instantaneously. Albeit not for CarPlay, but my iPhone 16 Pro is connected and my contacts/phone are available to use through Pivi within ten seconds of turning the car on. Always.
Yep. Without fail my phone always connects to Pivi before her iPhone 16 to the point where it actually makes her mad and she violently taps the source icon on the Pivi tile to change to her iPhone. Accompanied with a grunt of displeasure :P We are in fact a house divided when it comes to the smartphone wars.
Aston Martin is going to let the 2024 model year have the option to receive this after a visit to the dealership. I'm hoping that the 2025 model year of the Defender could get it but maybe they would need to beef up the processing power? It's going to be interesting to see how this rolls out. When should LR announce plans for the 2026 model year?
I am not a fan of this. Why would anyone want their v8 or v12 Aston Martin’s gauges (or their offroading Land Rover for that matter) to look like the ones in a cheap electric car?
Thankfully it sounds like the design change is optional and you can keep your OEM gauges if you prefer them.
I will be a happy camper if the new CarPlay just changes one little thing - allow us the dignity of pinch to zoom in google maps rather than the + - tap game.
I think it looks fresh and modern looking, like most of Apple's designs. it will still be great to have the option to switch back to basic Apple CarPlay vs. Ultra.
Maybe in another month we will know what's in store for the FY26 year. I'm currently in the queue for a FY25 model, but nothing has been confirmed by LR factory, I put my order in April 23rd.

They can only do it for 2024MY DB12s, not any other model. So if you have a 2024 Vantage, DBX 707, or Vanquish you're straight out of luck. My guess is that the other models need hardware upgrades to support CarPlay Ultra, and AM isn't willing to upgrade them.
