Auto Shutoff?
I have a 2024 V8 110.
Occasionally, when putting the car into ‘Park’, the engine will shut off on its own (a feature that I like). However it does not consistently happen and I can’t determine why it happens when it does.
On my past RR Sports, that was a setting that I could turn on/off. However, I can’t find that feature/setting on my Defender.
Am I missing something?
Does anyone else experience this auto shutoff?
Thanks.

I think this is something different than the auto stop/start that works while in drive.
I have a gate that needs to be manually opened. When I put it in park and hop out of the car, it will inconsistently either stay running or turn off the car (displays and engine off, as if I switched off the ignition - not just transient engine off for emissions/milage). Unfortunately, I’m not sure how to change the behavior.

The Auto stop/start is also dependent on ambient temperatures and climate control settings. Below or above a certain temperature it will not shut off. This does not depend on being in drive. I also believe it does not operate if the engine has not reached or is not currently at its standard operating temperature range.

Thanks for all of the replies.
I’m in alignment with GTS944. This behavior is different (albeit somewhat similar) to the auto on/off button that ‘shuts down’ at red lights/traffic. The behavior that I’m talking about is akin to pressing the OFF button when you are shutting off the engine. It is a full shutdown off all systems.

I have the same experience on my p400e. I thought it was a hybrid thing. Very annoying that it shuts off when you open the door. Ive resorted to pushing the start button again with the door open. Then it stays on even if I close the door and walk away.
We have the same in my Discovery. And in the Jaguar. Meant to stop someone getting out of the car while it's running. Seems like a fix for a problem that isn't really a problem...
Dealer investigated and could never explain the precise rules. Appears to be if you stop, put it in park and unbuckle seatbelt within some sort of time window then open the door.
Try varying the sequence and perhaps you can work out how to stop it happening.

There seems to be some confusion between Auto Start/Stop and the issue that Kaylorsan is having and BritCars has experienced. FWIW, my Defender has never shut off under any combination of being in Park or not, seatbelt buckled or not, or door opening. It operates like any other vehicle. During any time that I pull up somewhere, put it in Park, open the door, get out to grab something, get back in or anything resembling those actions, my engine has never shut down. This seems to be a malfunction that the dealer should address properly. Just weighing in.
