Mine matches the pictures above, Meridian Surround on the doors but just ‘Meridian’ on the Pivi Pro display matching the photo up thread.

 

I am quoting myself here in order to make a correction. I was incorrect when I said my Discovery Meridian Sorround has 3 audio mode choices. It is actually 4 choices; but not the ones I thought. They are “Stereo”, “Meridian”, “Dolby Pro Logic IIx”, and “DTS Neo:6”. It does not have a “Meridian SURROUND “ button like I thought. My apologies. And I believe the other two choices are due to my Disco having the CD/DVD player entertainment system with built-in screens in the headrests. My comparison was apples and oranges…my bad.

Are you playing music from your phone over bluetooth (wireless carplay)? This causes the audio to be recompressed again by the phone, and then decompressed (a second time) by the car. With CarPlay, it may even bypass/disable the car's EQ, since apps like Music have their own EQ settings.

In my Model X, there's a huge difference between playing Apple Music from my phone's bluetooth, vs. using the Tesla's built-in Apple Music app (with the car streaming its own data directly).

If you are listening from a phone, I would try connecting it directly to the car with USB (even turn off bluetooth) to see if there's any difference. Also check if the car's EQ is active, or if you have an additional EQ setting active in the phone app.

 

I’m pretty sure wireless CarPlay does not use Bluetooth (and it’s associated audio limitations) once it is setup. It uses Bluetooth during the wireless setup process, but after that it uses a proprietary wireless signal between the phone and vehicle that is much better at bandwidth (CD quality) than Bluetooth. There are many discussions about this.

 

That’s good to know. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple requires cars to disable their tone adjustments in favor of whatever is set up on the phone, or perhaps both EQs are applied?
