I think powerful.co.uk had a youtube video on raptor paint which is similar. I had a shop do it, so they dismantled the bumper and painted it. The only problem with radar sensors is the spots they are silver… but powerful.co.uk sells little black vinyl stickers to put on. For sure dont paint without removing the sensors.

That's not gloss.

 

We got it done by the dealer on my wife's Defender. Looks MUCH better I think. The gray was terrible with the black and brown color combo.

I plasti-dip'd the rear bumper - removed it and painted then re-installed. Came out great but not the gloss - used Shadow Black HyperDip. Plan to do that front as well - I think the front silver grill is easier to remove than the rear bumper cover was from what videos I've watched.

 

I would love to see photos if you can share (close-up and typical distance).

Is the shadow black is intended to be their gloss product? I figured the gloss black was the one to chose if you were going for gloss.

I have been debating going the hyperdip route or getting them painted by a shop.

 

They make glossier versions than what I used - mine is definitely a cross between satin and flat - but not glossy. I liked it as DIY, inexpensive, and reversible if so desired. I've used their stuff before and it does what it says it does. Also, bumpers/wheels (I plan to paint my wheels with the same stuff as well) always get scratched regardless of what you do to them so like the easy touch-up with the spray can if needed. If you get them painted, just know you will likely have to touch them up over time anyway so may as well DIY.

Did you cover the sensors or did you peel it off ? How many cans did it take for the rear?

 

2 cans did it - lots of light coats. I taped off the sensors.
