I just bought a 110 2 liter p300....I would like to upgrade the brakes, has anyome put the larger brakes on a p300, the ones you see on the 400 and above? if you have...cost?
The brakes on the P300 are excellent. 13.7" rotors and four pot Brembos up front, and 12.7" and single piston calipers in the rear. No issues stopping whatsoever. JLR products have always had fantastic brakes.
What size rims do you have? The bigger brakes won't allow for 18's if that's what you have. That topic is another kettle of fish as well. P300's with 18's came with smaller brakes. Still stops on a dime. I've got over 20k on my factory brakes and the tech said there was hardly any wear on the pads as of last week.
They are Brembos. All Defenders have Brembo-supplied calipers regardless if they have the Brembo logo or not.
I'm not sure if my base p300 with twin piston sliding caliper front brakes are made by Brembo, but I do know that they are the lowest tier of the three front brake options available on the Defender -- the other two which are clearly Brembo-branded 4- or 6-piston calipers with varying sizes of discs depending on specs.
OP, I'm guessing you're referencing the same as mine:

I was just going by what one of my contacts at JLR in the UK told me. I have the same calipers and did some digging myself, and it looks like the two-pot front calipers are from ZF. I stand corrected
Part numbers are LR139157 for the left and LR139156 for the right.
ZF's part numbers are BHV849E and BHV848E respectively.
BHV849E is the ZF part number for the front right, and it appears that they have been discontinued according to ZF, which is maybe why you can no longer get 18" wheels from the factory. Although, the 18" wheel option is still available in Australia. Maybe JLR has enough calipers stocked up, similar to how they still have plenty of 5.0 V8s built up despite production ending nearly a year ago.
Regardless, the braking performance is still exceptional IMO.

The supplied braking on the Defender has been more than adequate on my ‘22 110 but for anyone looking to upgrade I’ll share that on my previous Evoque when I needed to replace the pads I ended up doing pads and rotors on all four corners with EBC Yellowstuff pads and slotted and ‘dimpled’ rotors. The difference in braking was noticeable immediately, and over the longer term there was notable reduction in brake dust on the wheels. When my Defender needs pads I will go that route again.
