Brand New 2023 Defender S 110 Issues
I would like to know this as well. I really was surprised that it did not have the feature. Spoiled with other cars I suppose. I do have email from a few months back from the dealer saying that all newer vehicles would have it since I was considering a V8 at the time. Would be nice just to get the second key at 7 months and counting.
Fulcrum, I am confused too. My specs sheet for the vehicle says it has “keyless entry system.” And the Owner’s Manual has directions to enable the system in the Settings screen. The “keyless entry system” is precisely that- no keys or “fumbling for the fob” to get in. I think it is included but is missing in the install/build. I’ll talk to the dealer.

Keyless entry implies that you do not need a key or press the FOB to get in or out of the car, which is exactly what is offered. You then have "Walk away locking" which land rover refers to as their option for "just touch the handle to lock, or walk away to lock". That CAN be unlocked if you have a specialty system (there are people who do this, one is located in LA Area).
I guess, then, the issue is imprecise descriptions of 2 different systems, both referred to as Keyless Entry. One version has approach unlocking/locking, the other does not. It appears it is available in the US but maybe only on certain models of LRs?

There is a thread on this forum about problems with the “approach” unlocking version, which seems attributable to the fact that US destined vehicles had the sensor located on the “wrong side” of the vehicle, i.e., the UK driver side. There is a LR bulletin on a warranty repair of the issue.

IIRC, that issue (thread on the problem) was for the current Defender system, where you have to be within close proximity to the car and still press the small square button on the door handle (to lock and unlock w/o the fob). I don’t think US Defenders ever came with “approach” unlocking like the BMWs. I can certainly understand the confusion from the link you posted because it does read to me like it should have the BMW style system.
My wife’s current Sport (‘22) and previous RR (2018??) has/had the BMW style for approach, but still needs a press on the handle to lock, ie it doesn’t automatically lock just by walking away.

Thanks for clearing that up Jiman. I agree, at least my Defender "only" has the keyless entry with the pushbutton entry (no "approach unlocking or walkaway locking"), and I agree after digging into it that this is all I bought and paid for. Now, onto that Colorado Fairing I just ordered to attenuate the noise from the OEM roof rack I just HAD to put on mine.
I actually have the same issue re: audio system, but it's probably every 10-15th time - and it's always the audio only comes out of the passenger side speaker(s) (not sure how many are actually active, I've never checked). It's ridiculously annoying. I had the dealer look into it and all they did was update the software, which didn't fix anything - of course they couldn't recreate the issue b/c it doesn't happen frequently enough. I will have to take it back at some point but have been hoping someone on here figures it out
Will definitely keep an eye on this thread!
The only other issue I've had with my 23 Defender is the driver's seat occasionally makes noises as if it's not quite clicked into it's spot. I will slide it forward and lock back into place and the noise goes away. I haven't noticed that one in a while so perhaps it has worked itself out, but thought I would mention it.

hey man I have the exact same speaker issue with my 2023 defender, same frequency/side of the car and everything. I was just wondering if you ever got a resolution for it?
I noticed that it really only happens whenever I use the remote start through the app. I haven't used it in a month and I haven't had that issue since. It's not as convenient since now my car is cold when I get in it, but I'll take that over that stupid amp issue. I tried to let the Lead Techs know that that's the pattern I noticed, but they never responded :-)
