Default Bumper Paint

Has anyone painted over the brushed steel on the lower bumper? I am looking to mirror the color of my 110, but one auto shop said they dont think it would look good and wanted to order a new bumper in black instead... Thoughts?

Cheers,

Brenden

I’ve looked and been unable to find black or shadow atlas bumpers (front or rear) to order separately online. It seems like painting the plastic is the only way to do it.

We ended up painting the bumpers on the wife’s 110XS in Shadow Atlas as it was quicker and simpler than changing the bumper skins.

Here’s the link to the parts numbers

Yeah, we had the bumpers painted on the car, took our local bodyshop a day and a half to paint both bumpers and the sidesteps

Having just had my entire front bumper off, for a winch/bullbar install, I can vouch for the fact that it's a big pain in the neck to disassemble the front bumper.

Lots of clips break unfortunately if you're not exceedingly careful, and then even if you are I think luck plays a role. I took the advice of a bodyshop and squirted dish soap/water solution in all crevasses before trying to unclip anything. It worked GREAT at preventing damage and letting things unclip without breaking the flimsy mounting points / slide clips.

The one thing about spraying those pieces by the fog lamps in place.... is .... how do you ensure paint doesn't go all over everything behind it with all the holes in it?

The painter we used cut card & masking paper panels and put them in front of the coolers etc that are located behind to stop the overspray

Really helpful advice, I can se how that would make a big difference but something you'd probably never think of!
