It occurs to me that some new Defender owners might be overestimating their stopping ability and general driving skills.

Lots of front-end damage.

That’s some crazy you know what.

Looks like you were going a bit faster than a few miles an hour.

Do you have more pics?

I can see with that very isolated pic bending fairly far up the quarter panel.

Really hope there’s more to the damage. If this truly was a 2 mph hit these will be uninsurable.

Going to a LR certified shop is the only way to go! I’d never consider anything else.

I am not sure how you can back out of a indoor parking lot more than a crawling speed. You can see the pics from Copart with the LR Defender in Richmond Va. The car is untouched. I was driving it around happily for 15 days before the certified body shop could see me.
Terribly unhappy with what the body shop did. Not happy with my insurance too.

Yeah, that’s crazy for sure.

Glad you got it worked out and ordered a new one.

Wait ? What ?
Not happy with your insurance ? I am lost ... why took the money then ?
I am not a big fan of insurance companies, but they gave you a new vehicle.
Yes, 43K $ in repairs for that is excessive, but we live in a crazy world.
Was that the ONLY shop you have visited ? that is LR certified ?

One other thing here does not add up: you say you happily drove it for 15 days, and I do believe that.
By looking at the pix on 2020 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 SE for Sale | VA - RICHMOND | Tue. Aug 31, 2021 - Used & Salvage Cars - Copart USA it does not seem to have underbody damage. If it had, you would have not been able to drive it for 15 days afterwards.
Whatever the deal is something is fishy ... by the look of it, a half decent body repair shop, could have put that back together for a lot less. Yes, a lot of manufacturing, but not impossible and NOT 43 K !
Would have it been factory "like new" and pretty ? meh ... probably not. Still.... a good car.
Anyways, look at the salvage reseller. They keep it indoor. They know that some one will ****** it right up, fix it relatively easy and resell it for a good buck. Probably a body shop ?

Don't be mad at your insurance. They did the right thing. Is what you pay them for.

I'm comfortable assuming they feel the same way about you.

Did the body shop company overestimated the repair so you can get a new one? Did you want it fixed or not? Some body shops with a few encouragement can make it look more expensive than it is since there are no comps.

Smells like insurance fraud!

In the old days, you would just do the fraud and not tell the internet about it.
