Question Buying a Defender without a markup?

What has been everyone experience lately with dealer markups? I am in Southern California and looking for a base 110 around $56,000-$60,000 MSRP. They all seem to have a markup of $15,000 over MSRP. I'm willing to fly to another state and drive it home if I'm able to avoid a markup.

The only way you're going to get a 110 at that price is if you order it, which means you are most likely looking at a 6 - 8 month timeframe from order to delivery. It's possible that you could get lucky and take over a previous customer's build which would shorten that timeframe but highly unlikely.

No one with a Defender on the lot that hasn't been ordered is going to sell for at MSRP due to supply chain disruptions.

That's what I'm seeing. I should have bought a year ago. I went with an Audi SQ5 which has also appreciated in value, but not enough to make up the difference of a $15k markup.

Build your own and wait it out. Even pre owned Defenders are selling over MSRP in our area.

Some Southern CA dealerships are trying to get a $15-30k markup. Has anyone been successful in getting one on the lot without the markup?

Still surprised I secured my Trophy Edition at MSRP (did have to pay for the winch that was included).

No markup in most of Florida for local buyers and $10k typical for out of state buyers. We have a new dealer here with some available on the lot - DM me if you're serious.

I purchased mine 8/7 with no mark-up but must have just gotten in before the squeeze of all squeezes started. The sad fact is it’s only going to get worse. And it’s not just cars. Baffled how the economy hasn’t ceased up yet.

Shortly after I ordered mine, the dealer (Bellevue WA) whacked a 10k markup on all their limited number of Defenders. Now they have a 10k markup on ordered vehicles too. Mine was Sticker price. I don't see the same markup at the Tacoma dealership but last I looked they had 1 S on their website.

More S trim seem to be on the lot these days. Was all Xs and other intermediate higher specs when I was ordering my SE.

If anyone is interested I just posted my 2022 Defender 90 X-Dynamic HSE in the classifieds section. I need to swap out for a 110 due to a baby on the way now...smh.
