Default Can’t select media on PIVI

I have not done the latest upgrade. Could not find anything in searching threads.

All has been normal, media stays on SXM most of the time.

This morning PIVI showed Select Media message. I could see everything expected, SXM, FM, AM, my phone Bluetooth, my phone USB, ETC. Could not select anything. Started and stopped engine several times today. Punched on/off button, icons, all day. Nothing. Every time I sang to my wife, the pup howled…..desperation is close…..

Thoughts and help appreciated!

You could try to log in or out ( and in again ) in your Incontrol. That fixed mine.

Try holding down the radio volume button to do a reset.

If that fails, move the passenger seat forward and disconnect the negative battery terminal for about 5 minutes then reconnect it. (It's a 10mm bolt) This "hard reset" also works when the power steering temporarily disappears and you can't turn the steering wheel. This is why I carry a 10mm wrench with me at all times.

Have had a few random glitches/lock-ups like this over the past two years, and each has been resolved with a simple reset as PaulLR states above. Just press and hold the volume button until the screen goes off and reboots. Fortunately I've never had to go the battery disconnect route. Good luck.

Also note you need to be stopped in park to do the Pivi reset w/ the volume button

Thanks all, log out/in, reboot hasn’t worked. Hesitant to disconnect the battery as we are 250+ miles at 8k ft elevation from the dealer. Even my wife quipped “something else will fail”. Guess I’m going to get a bunch of singing time in! 🫣

So I have come to realize that ALL internal audio is gone. Proximity sensors (backing, cross traffic, etc), turn signal clicks, everything. Made an appointment with the dealer for when we are back in town. When I described the issue, my advisor sounded as if it was a familiar issue, but I was interrupted during the call and didn’t have opportunity to ask him anything. Time will tell…..

This has been happening to me every once in a while. But, I've never noticed it when I start the vehicle. It's always when I'm listening to something through Carplay and then try to switch to another source using the diamond button on the steering wheel. Everything seems fine, then when I try to switch to another source I lose the audio and it also won't switch to FM, AM, XM, etc. It never comes back until I stop and reset the system by holding down the power button. My software is up to date.

I get the same thing. More often than I like I start driving and can't access Spotify or any of the media apps. I'll switch it to XM and not be able to change the channel, it's stuck on whatever I was listening to last.
Friday I headed out for a 6 hour drive to Chicago and couldn't access Spotify or change media. I could access Spotify through my iPhone and carplay though. Luckily I had to make a quick stop and was able to do a reboot and then connect to Spotify again. No issues all weekend after that.
Today I left for lunch and had the same problem. I fully expect it will be fine when I go home tonight. Doesn't ever seem to last, but it is annoying.

Today at lunch I got a little "i" next to my profile icon so I clicked on it expecting to see an update. Instead it was a warning that said that rear braking assist was not available when towing. I haven't had a trailer hooked up for 6 days. Not sure why it picked today to tell me that random factoid.

Quite the character this Defender is. Certainly is developing a personality.
