I ordered my Defender last week, and I just got news from the dealer that 11.4 touchscreen is not available at this time (probably due to shortage). Is it possible to retrofit a larger 11.4 touchscreen later after ordering a car with the smaller screen for now.

I dont have a definative answer, but there does appear to be a notch in the lower crossbeam padding to fit the larger screen. So you may need to repalce that entire piece as well, I have no idea how easy to replace, or expensive, or even available that part may be...

 

I would say if you really want it then wait to order your Defender, but from what I’ve read some of these supply chain issues may extend into next year!

Do you have any more information on this? As I have heard from the dealer, the larger screen will be an option just for specific models in the futures and not for the standard Defender nor the S.
But for the moment, it is not available at all.

 

My understanding is that the large screen requires a different cross beam, so i am not sure how the big screen would fit onto the cross beam with the small screen.

so i suppose you can source the big screen, the cross beam for the big screen and all the other miscellaneous items that go with it. Or you can come up with a “modified” mounting method onto the existing cross beam.

 

I recently purchased a V8 D90 Carpathian Edition and it too is not coming with the 11.4" screen, which should otherwise be standard in the Carpathian Edition!!!

I'm kind of disappointed about it, and would love to know if it can be retrofitted when the 11.4" displays become available?

 

I look forward to completely overpaying for this upgrade / modification in the future on my X !!! (there is basically a 100% chance when parts become available that the usual suppliers will offer a retrofit / upgrade kit). It'll be like a new Defender in 2024!

 

Wonder if we can retrofit the interactive display for the analog display once they become available new or from a salvaged unit. It seems like a standard Jaguar/Land Rover part.
