What cargo boxes are y’all using on the stock expedition rack. Have had a Thule xl for years on my Outback, but curious if there are other options with similar capacity. Thanks!

 

I've got the big Thule matte black one -- Force XT XL (I believe).They make an XXL one that's even bigger. It's great. I had to buy these little adaptors that PowerfulUK sells (I think they 3D print them) which raise up 2 of the bars when I use it so the grippy Thule clamps work properly. No big deal.

I use a Thule XL motion.

It has a recessed floor designed for optimal use with crossbars.

I modded two bars of the rack with some 1/2" plastic spacers and longer bolts. Raises two bars and allows the box to fit. Cost is about $10 Here's the details


This year I decided to try mounting the box without the mod. It mounts just fine. The floor of the box bends a bit but it's solid. Not a problem.

Yes, Gavin-McGuyver did for $10 what I did for $100 and an import tax. His is probably better.
