Well this is odd - my center console armrest on my '21 110 S has started disintegrating. It has been excessively hot the past week and today I noticed that the neoprene material on my console is disintegrating close to where I occasionally rest my arm. I know this could probably be considered normal wear & tear, but this shouldn't be happening on a car that is less than four years old with 36k miles, especially since there was no damage when I detailed my interior early last week. So much for the "durable" neoprene material that JLR was so proud of in the initial press release. Luckily I have a service appointment next Friday to have a new harness for the keyless entry, so they should be able to sort this out. I'll ask to see if they could swap out the neoprene armrest for the leather one, and I'm willing to pay for that if possible. Regardless, this is ridiculous and shouldn't be an issue this early on.
This should be covered under warranty, and I do not see this as normal wear and tear. It should not be happening regardless of the material used. Let us know what the dealership says.
My son's LR-4's upper door arm rest did the exact same thing, but out of warranty sadly. If they do it on warranty, perhaps you may offer to pay the difference to upgrade to leather.
I'm not a fan of that neoprene material either. My daughter borrowed my Defender to go to the drive-on beach with 3 friends. It's nearly impossible to get sunscreen off the black neoprene center console armrest and other areas.

My old LR4 was starting to do it on the door panel as well, but I sold it before it got bad. It was nowhere near as bad as this.

You're absolutely right. I had sunscreen on one day and it permanently stained my upper door panel, and it had to be replaced.

Forgive me for suggesting this, but it doesn’t appear that the material is failing. It seems more that if someone leans on something for three plus years with any force it will begin to show signs of deformation, which looks like the case here. Where I sit on my couch, for several years there is a distinct ‘butt print’ that is not a fault, but is wear and tear. Although, I do wish you success in getting the dealer to replace, or at least seek remediation in the interest of customer relations. And though this is probably too late to help you, for those with the staining issues, here is what I installed on my console armrest soon after delivery.

While I understand exactly where you are coming from, I don't use the armrest that often and when I do, my elbow naturally falls a couple inches in front of where it is deformed. Also, the fact that it wasn't like this a few days ago raises some questions as well.
