Chip Shortage
Chip shortage is impacting all brands. Just tried to order an X5 but many of the options including HK audio are currently unavailable. Like JLR, BMW is done with 2021 orders and will start taking orders for 2022 models late summer.
So is BMW on a pause for new orders or is every new order reflecting a my22 spec due to the timeline to receive the vehicle?
Only know about the X5...was told you can still order a 2021 X5 until early June. But many options are no longer available...audio upgrades, air suspension, interior upgrades, third row seat, etc. 2022 X5 gets a facelift so there will be a pause for a couple of months between when 2021 orders close and 2022 X5 orders open. Supposedly I have 2022 X5 order allocation slot #2 at my local dealership. But if the options I want are still unavailable, I'll order a second Defender. Having had two 2013 LR4's for the past 8 years, I'd like to have some variety in the family motor pool.

Have you considered the Rivian R1S?
Yes, X5's are built in Spartanburg, South Carolina. No interest in an electric vehicle until internal combustion vehicles are obsolete. I'm the person that would constantly forget to plug it in and have it run out the next day. I would also hate to waste time sitting at a rest stop charging station on a long trip.
