Here you go. It's been a year and about 14k miles. Dirt and water still fall right off. It's incredibly easy to wash and slickness and shine are like I did it yesterday.

This is a product called Carpro PERL.

It replaces things like 303, Armor All, etc. It's a cream that can be applied straight or diluted depending on the surface and texture. Not a bit of oil or grease. It dries completely with zero residue and no streaks. Holds up for months, even on exterior trim.

As a bonus, it doesn't cause cancer like 303 says it does.

PERL is plastic, engines, rubber, & leather. I have another product I like for leather and tires but I use this on all plastic in the engine, all rubber, interior trim, and exterior textured plastic.

This is on our Taycan exterior trim done 3 months ago. Looks like it was just done.

Defender interior trim done last year.

Floor mats done about 3 months ago. They pretty much repel dust and dirt. Shake off or hose them off quickly to refresh. They're a bit slippery but I'm good with it.

I probably have the only Landy without water spots in my cupholder. If you only buy for that, it's worth it.

Does the Carpro PERL have UV protectants? Wondering if it would help with the side mirrors turning purple issue.

Not just UV protection, "tremendous" UV protection 😂

I ceramic coated all of the exterior gloss plastic so I've never tried PERL on those. It's such a high gloss finish, I'm not sure if it would be the best option.

Thinking this through, there might be an answer to your mirror situation.

Ceramic coating doesn't have any UV filtering. UV causes oxidization when it reacts with ozone. This makes the clear coat hazy and milky which, on gloss black, can easily appear purple.

Ceramic coating is, however, resistant to oxidization so, even though UV light gets through, the ceramic coating prevents oxidization and protects the clear coat.

Back up though. If your mirrors are purple, the clear coat might just be oxidized. I think there's a good chance that you could hit it with a buffer and some finishing polish and it would correct most of that. I had some scratches in my black plastic trim in the back and they buffed right out with Maguires 105 & 205 and their DA polishing pad. Even though it's gloss black, it's impossible to see where the buffing was done and I would definitely try it on those mirrors!

I'm on a different track: leave it for prolonged periods in the sun. Rarely wash it. When I do, go to the car wash and do it by "hand" there. Then drive the heck out of it off-road and with sand. End game: make it look like crap so I can convince my wife that re-painting it in a color I'm longing for is a great idea....

THEN, I may care a bit more. Until then, my hat goes off to all of you with much better Defender "hygiene habits".

Thanks for your thoughts _Allegedly , Mine's a 23' and is garaged so my mirrors look new, but thinking ahead for something that would protect them from oxidizing in the first place.

Ceramic coat your wheels. It's extremely easy. I have the 5098's in dark grey and my dirty secret is that I never wipe them. Just spray with the pressure washer, foam cannon with the rest of the car, and rinse. You can't tell they have not been touched in a year. Silver would have to be wiped but nothing sticks to the ceramic.
