137 days and 2170 miles into ownership. Half a windshield wide, right bottom to the middle, just appeared overnight with no signs of physical contact.
On a funny note, on three new vehicles out of three our family ever owned, a rock hit the windshield within the first month, necessitating replacement - so it kinda taught us to take it easy.
I guess it's a good time to have some schadenfreude on behalf of the RAI never being delivered?
(thinking aloud) even though the vehicle is brand new to me, it's a used vehicle to the insurance, they're mulling the aftermarket option already. Done some research, mixed feelings, still wondering if I want to pay anything extra in case they demand it? The primary factor is not money, but equipment working correctly, and longevity (quote from this forum: "JLR OEM is not necessarily the best"), this is a keeper. Though, how many windshields will it go through, I wonder?
No telling how many windshields you will go through... Aftermarket windshields should be fine as long as they meet the OEM criteria, and make sure everything is calibrated after the replacement.
So far:
- 2021: 2 replacement windshields in 42K miles
- 2023: 3 replacement windshields in 38K miles
- 2025: 1 replacement windshield needed now after 18K miles. Actually broken it in 2 separate spots while driving 6K miles in the month of May to college rowing regattas.

WOW! Did your dealer give you a punch card? Your 10th will be free LOL....
Interestingly enough, it looks like the chip in your windshield is about at the same location as it is on mine.
Side note, I was surprised to realize there are no frits (those black dots) on this glass, and less surprised that the other vehicle that doesn't have frits on its windshield is the Cybertruck, well known for spontaneously cracking windshields. Especially interesting given the fact that mine split overnight and not while I was driving. Is that the way it happened to you as well, or you saw it appear in front of your eyes?

I actually don't know. The chip is below the inside visible section. I assume we got it between Encampment WY and Steamboat CO as we were on a dirt road most of the way. The crack happened over night, I think due to the cooler weather. And then it grew again on the second night.
I'm waiting for the dealer to get a new windshield in, was meant to be coming from somewhere in CA. When it gets replaced, I'll let you know how the paint holds up!
As I just got my 2025 - i'm prepping myself for all the idiosyncrasies of ownership. I wonder if a window film like Xpel would help with this known issue. Of course...then you have to deal with the stresses of the film shrinking and contracting due to temp variances. Then again, I'm certain many others have thought of this, too. lol
