I know someone posted a lower quality version of this wreck earlier from the Semi, but here is a better angle. Made an earlier post about a local Wrecked Defender yesterday as well. Anyways here's the video, Starts at 2:40. Defender passing on the right, annoying but not illegal. Also, clearly speeding though, but got Pitted by another SUV regardless.

 

Technically, I think it's illegal in this case. Passing on the right is legal on a 2+ lane road in Florida only when it is "safe" to do so. Aside from appearing aggressive/unsafe, the speed limit is 50 there and that's faster than 50. That was not safe so it's illegal.

Honestly, it looks like both drivers caused that accident and Florida is a no-fault state so they would probably both get a ticket and their own insurance would pay for their damage.

Beyond that, the slow drivers in the left lane are also in violation because they are required to move over and let that Defender pass on the left.

It's really a big fooking mess.

BUT if we stick to discussing the safety of the Defender - I'm all in!! Thanks for the higher quality video. Still makes my skin crawl on the back of the neck. Floored they were ok.

 

I know. I'm sorry. I know the lady who was in the Defender and how it played with FHP so it's a frustrating conversation and it's getting the best of me. I'm tapping out.

 

Reassuring those drivers walked away ok. They probably wouldn’t have if that were the original 110

 

That said, original 110 could not have been doing over 55 on the highway so wouldn't have been in that situation in the first place!
