Default Current MSRP Discount Situation

The local Land Rover dealer has 65 Defenders on their website which is insane in this market where most dealers don't have any cars.

Think they would be willing to give a big discount? Anyone who has purchased recently, were you able to get a discount?

All Defenders appear on the website even if they were already ordered by customers and are in transit or recently arrived. Only a handful of units are actually available at the dealer and when they are they’re usually marked up $10K or more above MSRP or there wouldn’t be any new inventory for sale.

I’m not aware of any Defender’s being sold under msrp anywhere in the U.S., if someone has purchased/leased one under MSRP in 2022, please let me know.

Those are buyer ordered units that they camp on the website to make people curious and make calls. Same happens with Ford dealerships and Broncos. People google, see units, then the dealership sucks them in.

in any case, I’ve not heard of any LR dealership discounting Defenders other than lowering a markup to MSRP. Fact is, there have been less than 10k (in 2022) produced of these models overall, so there is no reason to firesale them.

at the moment, you're still lucky to pay MSRP and not pay a premium it appears.

Agreed!

Hearing about people being able to order at MSRP at some dealers. Dealers around me have market adjustments listed. I honestly felt lucky to get an X that was on the lot for only $5k ADM. It was a better deal to me than sticker and wait until Feb with no clue what my trade would be worth then. Trading now I got MSRP for my 90 XD.

Except one all New Jersey dealers are selling at MSRP even if it’s a retail unit that’s available for pickup in the next couple of weeks. That’s how I’m getting mine in a month. Some New York dealers are also selling at sticker price. PA, MA, CT dealers are all selling 10 k above. Many Nj dealers still have couple in stock at sticker price.

Yeah, not all NJ dealers. Land Rover Princeton is not selling at MSRP.

Land Rover parsipanny is a hard sell but ymmv, Princeton is again hard sell. Edison, englewood, Paramus, white plains, new Rochelle are all at sticker price. Not sure about V8 but others are sticker price
